My work schedule is doing it to me right now. Midnight guy called out puking tonight. He claimed that he had driven most of the way to work before he ralphed on himself (I'm guessing he was in the wife's Sebring rather than his own Mustang) and drove home. So I stayed to help the other midnight guy out until things settled down. Dealt with a couple of patients (including a really crazy dude in restraints that was sexually preoccupied), did an insurance precertification, and here I am. At home. With absolutely not one speck of tiredness to be found. I even woke up extra early today because it was girlfriends' tea day, today. I have been awake 20 hours. It's not a caffeine issue, because I had one cup of coffee this morning, a couple of cups of tea this afternoon, and one cup of coffee at work at around 1700 hours. I mainline the stuff, ordinarily, and can and have finished a 24 ounce coffee 1/2 hour before I need to go to sleep, and I sleep like a log (was going to say a baby, but I don't cry every couple of hours and pee myself).

Maybe I'll just have a lie down and pretend about sleeping and see what happens.

I do it to myself. Was up until 2 am last night finishing a mystery novel. Now I'm all tired and cranky. Only myself to blame.

Funny, it is usually the butler.

I woke up at 4:30 this morning. All bright eyed and bushy tailed. Do you know how little there is to do in my small town at 4:30 in the morning? And its 4 degrees out. And its still pitch black. And I'm out of coffee. /end rant. :eyebrow:

I am out of coffee and cream....I decided to make a cup of English Breakfast instead, but that doesn't quite cut it now does it? another rant/end

About insomnia: the other night I took some tryptophan and melatonin. It worked nicely. There is a local herb shop that sells it. I usually just read until I go to sleep. If you really want to sleep quickly pick up business management materials from the 50's. You will probably pass out as quickly as I do.

I'm having insomnia now! :) YAY!

Something worth checking into is whether you are anemic. The only time I have insomnia is when I'm running anemic and I've had caffeine.

I've used Valerian root - St. John's wort or an all natural concoction called Calm (calcium/magnesium)- you can get any of these at a local herbal store or a vitamin shop

Check any herbal medication against your existing prescription drugs first, Bri.
I know there are contraindications for St John's Wort.

We have a natural tablet called Kalms over here.
They've never worked for me, sadly.
Nothing does, except prescription medication. And even that doesn't always (Trazadone gave me restless legs instead of knocking me out)

herbal Rx usually don't work on me, either - my systems blown out from all the RX I've taken. I woke up during breast ca. surgery!! HA! was surprise for them, I can tell you.

Trazodone makes me feel very hung-over the next day (something Ambien doesn't do).

the nasty chemo gave me restless legs - I take ropinorol (sp?) for that now. Otherwise my legs drive me nuts starting around 7pm.
