We're getting the roof done with Burnt Sienna this month -- and adding three skylights. :D

I haven't got that "it" in so long...is it supposed to be good? I really don't remember. :D

Steel is real.

I lust for a metal roof. Sadly, moisture/condensation issues here in the Pacific Northwest mean icky asphalt shingle is the best option. :eyebrow:

Wow - Looks really nice - Does it sound a lot louder when its raining?

Griff 08-10-2009 05:26 AM

Yeah, it is louder but I grew up with a metal roof so rain on the roof is a soothing sound to me.

classicman 08-10-2009 10:12 AM

Oh, don't get me wrong, I love that sound! Thats why I was asking. I think it would be awesome! Too bad its not an option for me where I currently reside. Its certainly on the list for my next home though!

Shawnee123 08-10-2009 10:18 AM

I love that sound too. I sleep like a baby when the rain is hitting my metal roof.

Do you have earplugs available in case of hail?

Shawnee123 08-10-2009 10:21 AM

That doesn't even really bother me. All hail the hail! Oh hell...hale?

Grif, why do your gutters stick out so far at the front (I know, "that's what she said)". Won't they get bent by the weight of snow? And I would have thought Grifftopia would harvest the rainwater from the roof; wouldn't downpipes be better?

Griff 08-10-2009 07:54 PM

The long gutter takes the water out past the swale around the house so all the water runs away. I'm getting out of the gutter business though. The drain around the house is sufficient and I'll have stone in the splash zone by this Fall.
