I refuse to color eggs. The last time I did, my eldest wrote naughty things on the eggs with invisible color and then I dyed them only to find "I HAVE A BIG SCHLONG" and various other penis descriptions on them.

I don't want anybody to get sick. :headshake

Uh, yeah. I saw the part about them being cold after I had started. They're in the fridge right now. This is just an experiment batch, it will only kill me, and if I live I have another dozen eggs to fix it.

Well here are mine. It worked, mostly. They were hard to peel and I lost a couple. The yellow ones didnt' work as well, don't know why. What should I do with the extra two bunny holes?

Great job Shawnee! They actually look like spider web eggs.

Shawnee123 04-12-2009 08:08 AM

I know. I think orange and black would be cool: a new tradition, Halloweenie Eggs!

I am going to raku the eggs again today, and bore you guys with it again this year. ;)

Bravo, Shawnee! Beautiful eggs! :notworthy
The article in the link said that yellow didn't work well.
Fill the other two holes with raisinets. ;)

Brianna you made me laugh out loud.

Shawnee - they're gorgeous!
I must do them next year. Hopefully I'll have a place of my own so they'll be a real surprise for Mum. She loves egg salad sandwiches, so as long as I do the chilled version there won't be any wastage either.

Death By Egg count: zero!

They were a hit. Thanks for the idea Bruce. Next time I really must read all directions before starting. I was going back and forth between a couple different "how to boil the perfect egg" sites and the recipe. I'm so linear.

They are fun to do, thanks for the compliments. :)

Perhaps you could place undyed eggs there.

Hmm... I don't know what food coloring gel is, but it must not be the same as the old style fizzy tabs that you tossed in with vinegar. That would make the egg taste all nasty.

These would be fun to make deviled eggs out of.

My mom made "spider eggs" for halloween with purple dye. She just used the liquid regular food coloring and dropped it directly onto the eggshell so it would soak through the cracks. They were AWESOME

For those of you wanting to move on to more advanced Easter goodies, check out Cellarite Kirk's blog.

Due to misjudging the ratio of cereal to delicious chocolate mortar (too much of the former) these were not widely considered a success. No one else liked them so I took them home. Two in a big mug of milk made a good breakfast! ("Good" in the Calvin and Hobbes "Chocolate Frosted Crunchy Sugar Bombs" sense - "tasty, lip-smacking, crunchy-on-the-outside, chewy-on-the-inside, and they don't have a single natural ingredient or essential vitamin to get in the way of that rich, fudgy taste.")
They also made Peeps and Totoro Cream Puffs. :D
