We hit -6 around KC on Sunday night/Monday AM. Yesterday, every call we got at work was about frozen pipes. Today, at 3:30, Selene called me, frantic. The pipe that runs inside our garage to feed the backyard faucet bib broke. All of our vinyl albums are in a large plastic bin with a lid. A cracked lid.
Just got through a little while ago pulling over 300 albums out of their soggy sleeves. We've saved the music, but the covers are *dead*. All that fucking album art and text...lost. On the bright side, I now have a definitive reason to buy that USB turntable I've been pondering for the last couple of years. |

This is not the effect of global warming.
This is not the effect of climate change. This is because you Americans just pissed of the Wicked Witch of the North by not voting for her. Freeze, my Pretties! |

I am more worried about the fact that if we don't get a hard freeze the bugs are going to take over the whole city. But in this area the months of Jan and Feb are often much colder than Dec. |

Does homeowners insurance cover such a thing? I know it won't bring all those covers back but it may buy your turntable? |
32 degrees with freezing rain.
I am stuck at the nuthouse. Luckily, I have some leftover fried dumplings and an egg roll from ordering Chinese earlier tonight. And an emergency microwaveable ramen noodle thingy. At least I won't have to resort to eating patient food or drinking generic Ensure. Not yet, anyway. |

I'll put this here even though it is no longer so cold, it has started to rain. The Glacial Death Star Icicles just let go and came crashing down on the roofs (rooves?) of the bay windows, sounding like the hammers of hell. The fuckers came down in chunks weighing 50 to 75 pounds each.
Last year one of them crushed our steel wheelbarrow. BAM! I wonder if they took out any shingles on the way down? |
Ah, Pennsylvania winters.
Tuesday, sleet and freezing rain trapped me at the nuthouse. Today, temperatures over 50, and expected to remain so for the next couple of weeks. |
It was crazy weather today. What a Christmas. 77 degrees. I should have gone to the beach.

Going to be 60 here Saturday.. wow.
