Rotary guns don't sound like machine guns -- something nearer an air hammer, tearing canvas, and a chainsaw motor with the muffler broken off. You can hear them come up to full speed from starting a burst, and there's a bit of a sound afterwards if the range is long enough. I'm not sure if we're hearing a column of bullet-disturbed air or what. Maybe I was hearing a jet... but there does seem to be a faint sigh when the burst is over.

The twin fifties presumably have the ground-gun cyclic rate and would sound like a deeptoned TUMPTUMPTUMPTUMPTUMPTUMP.
