PS not to say that you, ZenGum, are a fag. At all! I just always seem to pick them and small-membered English profs. My cross to bear, if you will.

ZenGum 10-01-2008 07:58 AM

I don't think I swing that way, but I do notice that I am happily humping a couch in the orgy thread, and I'm starting to wonder. I mean, sofa so good, but is this really my true love-seat? I'm reclined to couch it in those terms and settee the question once and for all.

classicman 10-01-2008 08:45 AM

Well I guess that just leaves it at English professor.

ZenGum 10-01-2008 08:48 AM

I teach philosophy and critical thinking, thank you very much.

As for the other detail ... well, my thesis was 80,000 words long, that's all I'm saying.

Trilby 10-01-2008 08:54 AM

I could tell you were a philosophy teacher because of all those couch and sofa puns up there.

Now. Is 80,000 words, um, over-compensating? I mean, you know, just maybe that's a few words there and unless you're getting paid by the word, OR your thesis won an actual award...

:D

ZenGum 10-01-2008 09:03 AM

Well, it was a bit of a Goldilocks-factor thing. The require 60 to 100,000 words. I nestled in "juuuuust right".

Doesn't that feel nice?

And no, it didn't win an award. ... but my honours thesis did, and one of my undergrad essays, but I'm not the type to shout that all over a message board to try to impress people. Shush now.

Between the Jonathan Livingston Seagull soundtrack (my favorite is Kyrie) and The Jazz Singer, I've ended up liking him, although not in a "I have to own all of his records" kind of way, which is how I usually approach an artist that I love.

And he wrote I'm a Believer, which is one of my favorite Monkees songs.

Shawnee123 10-02-2008 12:03 PM

I love Kyrie, wolf! I love that whole album.

April somehow got 4 free tix to see Neil Diamond here in St. Louis...his concert has been rescheduled twice and is now this coming Sunday, I believe. The dude fucking rocks, but I'm not good with arenas at the moment, so my brother and parents are going.

Elspode 10-28-2008 06:17 PM

I would like to have seen him here in KC, but budgetary concerns prevent it. The Mrs is taking me to see Alanis tonight, though. Neil's "Hot August Night" is still one of the best live albums ever.
