I still get all choked up seeing the flag of St George flying from every other window.
We're such a self-deprecating nation that patriotism for a long time was allied with racism. In other words if you were proud of being English it meant you wanted wogs and Pakis to go home.
So I love it. Until we crash out on my birthday that it.

Olympic women's soccer: Japan Vs China, 2-0.
Anyone see Japan's second goal? It was a beauty! Two strikers wove through four or five defenders, passing, losing, hustling, regaining, shoot .... GOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1st or 2nd in the EPL this year, huh? A little ambitious for a Gooner, but hey, dare to dream. Sorry, but it's Chelsea's year to break through ;)

Thank you for joining together today to pay your respects. We're gathered here today to honor the death of one of our most loved and cherished friends. Arsenal FC's dreams of domination for the 08/09 season are well and truly dead. No, the season is not over yet, but our dreams are. Certainly our beloved club is still in the running for three of the four major competitions but we must accept the obvious, the spirit is dead even if the body still breathes.

The season held such hope. Arsenal were unstoppable at times last season even though they were shockingly young. We had faith that with just one or two more players transplanted into the body we would be prepared for a long and wonderful reign over european football. Alas, it was not to be. While Samir Nasri and Aaron Ramsey joined the club, the dual losses of Alexandre Hleb and Mattieu Flamini were too great a shock to absorb. Our play became unbalanced. The chemistry was thrown out of wack. Our child leader among men, Cesc Fabregas has been held back by a lack of a proper partnership and thus rendered ineffective.

We say goodbye to you Carling Cup. So long FA Cup. Maybe next year Premiership. We'll not forget you Champions' League.
