I usually vacillate between slightly under and slightly over weight.
Which translates to about two clothes sizes. When I first started posting on the cellar i was underweight (size 8-10 UK, weighed about 8 1/2 stone) then last year I had gone up to slightly overweight (just about fit a size 14, weighed approx 10 1/2 stone). Now I am back to a few pounds above my ideal weight (size 10, weigh 9 1/2 stone). |
I was right on target, but I'll be gaining a good 40 pounds in the next seven months. Hopefully I can take it back off again in the seven months or so after that.

I 'think' I could stand to lose 10 lbs. Anyway, I could be in better shape. I wear a size 9 of which is only found in junior sizes. Gloria Vanderbuilt pants in size 10 are the only misses sizes that fit real nice and probably Levi's which I can't afford or refuse to afford. I don't really appreciate having to wear a belt to keep my pants up. How to lose that last 10 lbs! Seems like it's my friend for life now.
My mom say, "Oh your just getting older". I'm thinking," Why does older have to mean fatter and thicker?" |
I was underweight at 100-105, but then we quit smoking again and joined a gym back in March. Now I'm 110-115 and up a size in jeans (2L), and 2 sizes in shirts (although that might not be from the working out ;)).
When I was 12 I tried on my mother's wedding dress and it was too small for me ( I was a competitive XC skier at the time, pretty darn fit) - she has put on enough weight over the years to give herself diabetes. I am NOT going there. :headshake |
hmm. I just realised 'stones' probably won't mean much to you.
Right now I'm about 133 lbs. When I was underweight I was 119 pounds (actually I went down to about 110 lbs briefly). When I was overweight I was about 150lbs. Given my height I reckon 133 lbs is as near my ideal weight as makes no difference. But...what i ain't is toned. |

glatt, aren't there gym's with indoor pools in your area? If you liked swimming and it helped you feel fitter and better, it is worth the $25/month (if your budget allows) to go.

For an American, I'm underweight. For a Colorado-an, I'm about right. For a Boulder-ite, I'm overweight and out of shape (which is why I don't live in Boulder).
[off topic] I just want to point out that women's clothing use crazy sizing. For men, pants sizes (in the US) are waist inch x length inch (e.g. 32x34). When we were in Germany last month and my wife's luggage didn't arrive we went to the store to get her some clothes to carry over for a few days. We had a heck of a time trying to figure out the right sizes for her. Carry on. [/OT] |
I think you are also too intelligent to be a Boulder-ite.

But you are right, the indoor pools are not that expensive. I should go check one out and see what they are like for an early bird swim. How crowded, etc. If I like them, I can join for $250 a year, or pay $4 a visit. |

I'm underweight/scrawny and have the same problem with Fresh and Lookout that I lose weight when I stop working out and I haven't really be consistent with working out since football ended senior year in high school.
I am still very athletic just that my stamina sucks and I don't have that extra edge I had when I was in my prime. I'm about 5'11'' and probably 140 lbs. |
I am morbidly obese...whoohoo! I'm working on it though...srsly.

Exactly why I didn't recommend the Y or some such LJ. I've done that way back when. Those old people can be mean!!!
If you are just interested in swimming, the master's group fee here (obviously might be different elsewhere) is only $100 a year. That gets you all the swimming in the summer and winter, MWF and Sats. Granted, you don't have the flexability of a gym, but it is cheaper. Just a thought. |
