didja use the pen tool? figure out what i was talking about? is it working okay?
|
Yeah, I used the pen tool. After installing gimp 1.2, the paths tab just magically appeared!
Of course, his skin color is all wrong. Ah well.. that wasn't the point of the lesson anyway. :) |
Does gimp have support for previewing? One good thing in PS is altering the color/contrast/brightness/levels while having the newly-pasted layer selected. That way you can match 'em up while comparing what the final paste will look like.

Indeed it does.
GIMP is pretty powerful, don't get me wrong. For free, it sure as shit beats anything else out there that's competetive, price-wise. But Photoshop is simply much more polished, much more powerful and has many times the amount of plugins available. Plus, the books on Photoshop are about a trillion times more numerous and definitely more educational. Much of the time, you can get the job done with GIMP. But it's just easier and faster in Photoshop. |
I realize this image could get a bit repetetive, but I think this version is incrementally better. :)

It is! Now increase the level of red/cyan.
|
I'm trying that, but it's not really making it look better to me.

You just can't get this kind of high-quality criticism in Fark. ;)

Ahh, the wonders of a small community. :)
