I've watched anime where you read the English subtitles and listen to the English dubbing and end up getting two story lines that don't exactly match!

I've mostly been watching Ah! My Goddess lately but also have Record of Lodoss War.

I'm getting rid of my La Blue Girl box set VHS. Anyone want it?

Peeps, you gotta see Afro Samurai.

Totally typical Samurai Revenge Tale, but shee-it, it's got Samuel L. Jackson!

Been enjoying RahXephon (grew on me now I really dig it, more subtle than the other big robot stuff), Eureka Seven, Samurai Champloo (want the DVD SO BAD!), Air Gear (Silly but I like it), and On Demand.

That anime is...different. A good different. American artists make it seem really different. The first fight I saw with the white skin cowboy or w/e is cool though.

the song is what makes this clip.

I've been watching some stuff that's either just been licensed or hasn't been licensed yet, so bear with me if none of the titles sound like anything you've ever heard of.

Been watching Tokyo Majin, Darker then Black, So long, Mr. Despair, Full Metal Panic!, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and RahXephon.

For the most part, it's all action or mecha, and I highly recommend all of those to people interested in some... different concepts of how to have a good anime. So long, Mr. Despair is ridiculously funny, too.

Naruto.

Yeah, boy.

kage bunshin no jutsu!

The only anime that Ive seen where the english dub is better (in my own humble opinion) would have to be cowboy bebop. That was some great voice acting.

The only others ive really watched were samurai champloo, full metal alchemist, and some weird bug i caught in college where i found the urge to watch the first 150 or so episodes of naruto in a week....

Then you haven't watched very much anime. I'm not even questioning whether the Cowboy Bebop dub was any good; I only ever watched the sub. But Bandai uses a stock set of voiceactors for all of their releases. Those same four people who did that "great voiceacting" have done the main characters for literally dozens of other animes (and the translations were done by the same people too.) That's one of the main reasons I don't like watching mainstream release dubs: I can immediately recognize all the voiceactors, and it's distracting to be constantly remembering all the other characters they've done.

haha yes, i admittedly havent seen too much anime. besides those i mentioned, pretty much none (besides flcl...trippy.)

manephelien 08-17-2007 02:33 AM

Admittedly I haven't seen much anime, mainly because I find the manga aesthetic incredibly ugly. However, I did happen to catch part of a sort of 3D animation about a post-apocalyptic world where they were considering whether to give humanoid robots the means to reproduce naturally or not. I'd really wish I could see it again, and from the beginning this time.

You can pm me, you don't have to let everyone know you are a perv too.
It was a gift and has only been watched once or twice. It is in good shape and I am not asking anything for it.

no matter how cool it is, and how many times I try, I canNOT get into it. It's like wrestling--things I think I should like, or might like, but don't.
