I like the sound of that Hime, thanks.

I havent heard of that book Cloud, but will look into it.

Here's Paula Begoin's web site: http://www.cosmeticscop.com/default.asp

The book is really better than her website, because she independently examines and tests each product (makeup, skin care, and hair care). She lists ingredients that are good and bad, what works, and what is worth the money.

The book is big and expensive, so I always just sneak into my local Barnes & Noble if I want to look something up. E.g., I need new blush, but want to know what's recommended.

My beauty tip for the day: Lots of water and enough sleep do wonders.

For what you've spent on gas to go look at the book, you probably could have bought the book.

Cloud 08-12-2007 06:55 PM

Well, that's a good point. But I visit the bookstore regularly anywhere. And she keeps coming out with updates!

rage, you used to be a beautician I presume?

rkzenrage 08-13-2007 02:35 AM

Actor.
Use a lot of make-up and a lot of it is really rough on your skin. & A lot of the hair stuff is rough on your hair & scalp, were the hot/warm olive oil comes in (& it does work GREAT).

I want to repeat, oatmeal feels good when you use it, but, in the long run it dries you out. That is why so many lotions have it... you keep having to use more of their product... scam.

that's why oatmeal baths are good for rashes and especially supperating sores--it dries them out.

Does anybody actually read this kind of thing?

In the shower, when I put conditioner in my hair, I comb it exactly the way I am going to style it. Then, after all my other shower business (including shaving and brushing my teeth) I rinse my hair in that same direction. When I towel it off, I run it in that same direction. While moisturizing, I run regular lubriderm lotion through my hair, with my fingers. I let the waves "set" while I get dressed. Last thing, before I leave the house, I comb it through one time, and put on a coat of spray wax. I don't touch it again until it is has air-dried.

Avon skin- so -soft is a bug repellant. Not sure if the ingredients are more or less dangerous than "Off" but I am definitely giving it a try. Plus- I smell pretty.
BTW (a guy gave me my first bottle and recommended it)

wolf 08-14-2007 02:07 PM

SSS as a bug spray is useless. Stick with the DEET.

jinx 08-14-2007 02:24 PM

As a bug spray its useless, but it does attract deer.
