So you support this research because other people got money for their pet projects? How do you propose to reduce the size and scope of government if everyone gets his pet project? It isn't off topic because, according to your link, it is half of the topic and you don't get to decide where the conversation goes despite your desire to paint every question as religion vs. reason.
