Yes, the person in question is a girl. Or the girl, rather. I'm putting way too much thought into what to get, so I'm just going to take care of it tomorrow while I'm killing time waiting for her to get done with her observation stuff.
I might end up with something cheesy like roses, or the same gerbera daisies I gave her last time. She liked those. |

Gosh. Mah bad.

No kidding, I just watched one of those Flint movies last night.
And, yes, people do actually think that "in like Flint" is an expression. |
Well, technically it is now.
Don't get me started - I'll go back to arguing the proper meaning of carrot & stick and that would be a real hijack in a thread about wildflowers. |
Grant, you're making yourself nuts to do something that won't earn you many more brownie points than other flowers, you know.

not true. In these days of Hallmark et al doing the thinking for you, a little personal touch is worth so much more than any bog-standard bunch or bouquet. Especially when the recipient has a little oomph about them. Giving a pre-pack of flowers says "I know I'm supposed to do this so here you are, will you fuck me now?" |
You don't have to pick an arrangement out of a catalog, I go to my florist and let him be creative. But insisting of flora that's not available doesn't get the job done. If the job doesn't get done, no points.

Bruce, monster, you're both right.
I don't have the time and resources to track down the ideal this time around. She's got 3 hours of work this afternoon. While she's doing this I'm supposedly going to be killing time in Barnes and Noble or the Harbor mall. Instead I'm going to walk to a flower store, tell them what I'd like and then tell them to go nuts. I'm sure she'll be thrilled whatever I get her. Especially since I don't think she's really expecting anything. |
The best "flowers" I've received are orchids. I have a passion for them. They are unusual, beautiful, have an extremely wide variety of shapes and colors, and the blooms last for weeks, even months, at a time. While you can find cut orchids at a florist, the blooms will not last as long. The orchids at the box stores are alright, but usually not the healthiest. A nursery, especially one that specializes in orchids, is the best place to find them.

Excellent decision. I can see my post last night was a tad forthright, sorry about that. Nuts would be an excellent addition to the bouquet, by the way. Different, amusing, yummy. It should patent it -the "I'm nuts about you" bouquet. D'you think the production-line-bouquet-makers would go for it? btw, mostly I'm just glad to see you so happy, and I bet she's the biz :) |
