:right: ..but the takeaway is that the church is subservient to jesus, as a wife is subservient to her husband. So much for celebrating the feminine.

By the way, can you guess who wrote this:

If Jesus Christ (peace be upon Him) was present today, he would order an encounter against those who would propagate corruption, obscenity and perversion, and try to nullify and exterminate the merits and the rights of women and diminish their position – a position that virgin Mary (peace be upon Her) – is their role model and sample.

i wish it was me, but the "peace be upon ...." blessing suggests to me that it was a muslim.

I'd heard that Ahmadinejad wrote a Christmas message, and this sounds a lot like his letter to W.

The Bride of Christ citatation would appear to be from the Catholic Catechism, which is scarcely an independent source of historical data. :)

The quote about Christian treatment of women coming from a Muslim is actually pretty damn funny, considering the status of women as property in most of the Muslim world.

maybe he meant?

Yes, that is how I read it.
Oh! perhaps he was suggesting that JC was against women's rights... Okay, I invite clarification from Phil.

Elspode 12-27-2006 01:19 PM

Doh! Yup, I misread it. It is a perfectly normal comment, once you read it right. Normal for a patriarchal, bass-ackwards philosophy, that is.

Trilby 12-27-2006 03:32 PM

All I gotta say is if the Virgin Mary is the role model for all women---you boys better get to know Rosy and her five friends a lot better.

/muses/ I wonder if Amandinejad's mother managed to accomplish Virgin Birth? /muses/

Clarififcation : JC intended his church / message to be carried on through his most beloved and dedicated disciple, Mary Magdalene.
