Don't forget, when putting a new halogen bulb in, don't leave any fingerprints on the bulb. The high temperature, halogen bulbs operate at, means they are not ordinary glass. It's quartz glass that must heat and cool evenly, so any contamination, the oil from your fingers or any other source, will cause the bulb to crack and fail. :(

Oh yeah, I know all about that! Anyway it's all done now.

[another wildly incorrect bs statement]first get her drunk and then determine if the clasp is in the front or back...[/bs]

Well, that's always good advice. You can't go wrong there.

I'm waiting for the denouement. How did they get it off?

SteveDallas 12-13-2006 11:22 AM

I don't know. It was raining so they pulled it into the shop to look at it, so I didn't see what they did.

Nothing worse than consulting a wizard, and not seeing how the magic is performed, man.

It's entirely possible that he just used his hand and superior strength. After all, I can bench press 250... as long as you're measuring in grams.

Didn't want to admit you had tried and failed so he would double the bill, huh.

They actually didn't charge me--I'm a longtime customer and I got there first thing when they opened so I could at least try not to interrupt anybody--the manager just suggested that a small tip for the mechanic who did it would be in order. I didn't go into detail about the injuries  I just said I tried & couldn't get it off myself.

So what kind of car (year, make, and model) was it?

SteveDallas 12-13-2006 08:36 PM

A 1995 Ford Escort wagon (aka SycamoreMobile, tho I think Syc has gotten rid of his).
