Well, I live in a sub-tropical climate, so that probably explains the lack of snow.
Also, because I prefer the warm weather, I usually avoide the southern states during winter. ;) Maybe I'll buy a nice thick coat and go for a visit some day. |
UHT stands for Ultra High Temperature or Ultra Heat Treatment, depending on who's packaging it. :smack:

Shelf stable milk bothers me on some subconscious level.

When I lived in Germany for a year in the 80s we would buy that milk. Not much choice. There was the unpasteurized fresh milk that spoiled in two days and tasted funny or there was this stuff that lasted 2 years but tasted funny. I missed our US milk that would last for a week before spoiling.
It's never really caught on here in the US. It would be nice to have a liter or two kicking around for those milk emergencies, even if it does taste a little funny. |
What do Americans use for individual cups of tea & coffee then? Like in fast food restaurants and hotel bedrooms where frsh milk can't be kept? Is it powdered?
I can't bear UHT or powdered to be honest. I will drink black coffee rather than ruin my tea if I can't get fresh milk. I might change my mind if I was ever snowed in of course, but that's highly unlikely with our climate the way it is... |

Hm. No snow here, a bit of frost in the mornings and now it's getting c-c-c-cold.

Pull your long drawers back up. It's on the way!
