Shh. Don't tell anyone we faked this, just like the moon landing.

Heh, I keep an ice scraper, snow shovel, and antifreeze-wiper-fluid in my car year-round. Just so I don't have to keep them in my storage room.

And yeah, I love the digging-out-and-then-not-wanting-to-lose-my-spot, too.

We had the same weather over here, but luckily no one that I know of lost power. On Tuesday the high was 72 degrees, then on Wednesday the high was 45 in the morning, and after noon it dropped to 10 degrees. SO most of the day we had a -4 wind chill weather. That was a shock to the system, let me tell you!

We got the snow Wednesday night/Thursday morning. They predicted 4-12 inches before the day was over. It took me 2 1/2 hours yesterday to get to work and one other place (normally it would take about 45 minutes) because the snow was so thick and I just couldn't see and I kept fishtailing when I went above 15 mph. Makes me wish I had a 4x4. LOL

And I'm so glad that you and your family got through ok Elspode. That can certainly be a scary experience!

One Word:

Chicago

Mayoral elections are won and lost based on how the city deals with snow. The winter of 93/94 was a killer. 85% of Lake Michigan froze solid.

Now that I'm here in the ATL, I miss such winter weather.

Yes, it does get chilly here too.

Careful of that stove, Elspode.....children burn much hotter than wood. ;)

Good luck with that! I once had a woodstove like that. It was awesome. I am so glad to hear you all are safe and warm.:D

Thanks Bruce for the link.

Yes, it helps your locks ice up harder the next time.

Try toasting your key over a Bic Lighter.

I had a car where the locks never froze, but the latch on the door would ... you could open it, but closing it again required warming the bare metal of the latch with my hand for 5-10 minutes.

I know a witch who lives in a candy-cane and gingerbread house way back in a dark forest who says the same thing.

Elspode 12-04-2006 06:46 AM

Well, I certainly won't have to waste much time fattening my kids up...

Ibby 12-04-2006 09:02 AM

Fuck all of you. It was sixty-eight fucking degrees today. People were fucking shivering.

I fucking miss snow.

Happy Monkey 12-04-2006 10:24 AM

Holy crap! Winter arrived in DC today! A couple of days ago, it was 70, and now they're talking snow.

glatt 12-04-2006 11:52 AM

No kidding. It was a surprise too. I needed a hat and gloves for my walk to the metro, but I didn't realize it until it was too late. It's a hard, cold wind blowing out there.

Elspode 12-04-2006 12:54 PM

It was low 60's here the day before we got the ice, which was the day before we got the snow.
