Absolutely no fucking way in any form of hell will I go in one of those. jus' sayin'

Sundae 09-29-2011 12:44 PM

Yeah, me too.
Ghost Stories (Cellar link) was my limit.

infinite monkey 09-29-2011 12:50 PM

Are you guys talking about fakey fun haunted houses or houses that are supposed to be really haunted?

I'd love to go to one. It's been years. A fake one, I mean. A 'real' one? I could be persuaded.

Sundae 09-29-2011 01:07 PM

For me?
BOTH.

See my earlier post. I am like un unbroken colt - skittish and easily spooked.
I can scare myself just in my own head; once an outside agency is involved I will scream. Really loudly. Without the relief of laughter afterwards. I will scream for eternity like a madwoman.

Or so I suspect.

ETA - the houses mentioned do not look like fun to me.
But yes, they are fake.
I might be better off in a real place, as I honestly do not believe in an afterlife.

monster 09-29-2011 01:17 PM

I don't believe in ghosts so I'd happily go to a real haunted house. But fake haunted houses. no way. nuh-huh. not happening.

monster 09-29-2011 01:18 PM

Actually i did make it through the one at Disneyland.

But that was for little kids so no-one jumped out at you

Sundae 09-29-2011 01:27 PM

Monster, when you get international sponsorship, I'll spend the night in a real haunted house with you.

We're both sceptics, but I'll be the shrieky one.

We can tie it in with a programme/ book about ex-pats vs stay-behinds.
Or those who love the Barrowman and those who don't.
Or kids vs cats.

You know the score - nothing about "real" people is complete without some sort of ideological conflict.

Don't do it, Sundae. Trust me. They go for the skeptics first.

Sundae 09-29-2011 02:51 PM

Argh!
In that case I wonder if Diz is "their" agent, as he jumps on me near every night, waking me up.

Although sometimes I wake myself up, trying to scream.
I call that a nightmare, although I know other people are more fluid in their definition.
I haven't had one for months now.

One of my fav times of year. I can go to the store and people don't think I am weird.

That you know of. :p:

I have been in real haunted houses on a number of occasions, and fun ones only occasionally.

Friends of mine operate a haunt for the homeless at Halloween. They rip their house to pieces to bring this off.

Mansfield Prison is on my list this year. Going to drag the new g/f along with, even if she has to wear a pair of Depends.

Sundae 10-02-2011 03:19 AM

Bullitt, I never thought I'd feel pity for a lady you dated.
But I do now...

Neighborhood haunted places

Landmark Harvard Exit
807 E Roy St, Seattle, WA
Moviegoers have heard mysterious laughter, while others report seeing the ghost of a hanged woman in the hallway.

Green Lake
5701 E Green Lake Way N, Seattle, WA
Though it's now a busy city park, some visitors report seeing ghosts and apparitions.

Pike Place Market
1508 Pike Pl, Seattle, WA
The image of a Native American woman has been known to prowl the area, once the tourists have left for the day.

Hamilton Middle School
1610 N 41st St, Seattle, WA
Many have reported hearing footsteps while alone in the second-floor bathroom. Doors are known to open and close by themselves.

St. Edward State Park
14445 Juanita Dr NE, Kenmore, WA
Visitors have seen and heard the laughter of playing children, though the park seems deserted.

whaaaaat?? I've been to these places (well, been through the neighborhood of Hamiliton Middle school, and I've been to parks in Kenmore, don't remember if that was the one, but it's a small area).

Really? These are spooky places in your neighborhood? Wow. I've been so, ignorant, so insensitive. So carefree. Now I will live in fear.

Great. Thanks.
