You people only think the whole thing about making the woman marry her father in law is stupid because you don't own any women. If you'd go out and buy a couple (five or six good camels is usually a fair price), you'd grasp these simple socioeconomic principles better.

My friend's father was offered four camels for her when she was about 8 ... the prospective buyer wasn't at all troubled about the fact that she was Jewish.

Her family became regretful that they hadn't accepted the camels when she turned 16.

Or, best of all, become a fundamentalist Mormom and have the government pay YOU for your 5 or 6 wives and progeny. Entire small towns in remote parts of Utah live on government welfare checks supplied to such families. Those folks understand socioeconomics better than any Muslim and they don't have to give their 14 year old brides up to any father in outlaw, either. :eyebrow:
