Sarge. I am digging the second pic. Most of the guys in our unit got their blood type under the arm on the torso since it would most likely be protected by body armor.

previous thread showing my back tattoo, in case anybody hasn't seen it. Mine is bigger than yours, Bullitt!

@ BigSarge; very unusual stippling effect on yours--is that part of the design element?

Shawnee123 01-26-2011 12:56 PM

It's pores, ain't it?

Cloud 01-26-2011 01:01 PM

do you think so? the plain skin doesn't look so pore-y; that's why I wondered. If so, I apologize. Looks cool though!

And the red letters are allergies? Because I would totally do that, but I'm allergic to Erythromycin.

Big Sarge 01-26-2011 02:24 PM

Thanks Merc. A lot of our guys had meat tags tattooed on their torso. Some of the really neat ones look like an enlarged id (dog) tag. UT - The red ones are my allergies.

I've got more pics of other tatts to post

TheMercenary 01-26-2011 02:26 PM

Post em. Love to see them.

Got a new one just last Saturday. It was cool because we were playing a show at a club called BFE and a friend of the band who is a tattoo artist by trade drove to Houston from Austin to see the concert.

He brought his stuff...so I got one at the bar before we performed. How cool.

Here is me getting the new one:

And here is the finished tat:

Sweet.

wow, I'm sorry dr.froth, but as cool as your tattoo may be, imo it's very uncool, unprofessional and unsanitary to get a tattoo at a bar. Tattoo conventions are bad enough, but at a bar? I guess it's your skin and your risk to take, but I would hate to encourage or support such practices.

drfroth 01-27-2011 05:14 PM

Yeah..normally I would not do that sort of thing...but hey...it does not get any more "metal" than that.

We did, for the record, hevaily sanitize the area and Terry brought his entire kit down to do the work. (new needles, clenser, disinfectant, etc, etc). We placed trash bags (new) down over the tables after we cleaned up and of course being a small tattoo the whole thing was over really fast.

While not conventional...it was cool and makes a great story.

If I suffer some sort of horrid infection I will post the pics in the WTF NSFW thread...lol.

good enough--you've relieved my mind! I've sort of been involved in consumer advocacy re: the body modification industry for a while, and this pushed my buttons a bit.

Bullitt 01-27-2011 10:15 PM

Cool stuff so far. I've seen military guys wearing patches or duct tape with blood type on their gear, never tattoos before. Good spot since that's typical IV site.

Keep them coming!

LOVE the t-shirt!

Picture's a bit wonky, but this tattoo is my only one so far. It's on my left foot. It is the stars that are in the corner of each page in the American editions of the Harry Potter series. I got it July 31st, 2011 -- Harry Potter's birthday. (How's that for nerdy?) I got it to remind myself of my two favorite quotes from the series, and to celebrate the role the books played in my relationship with my brother. I taught him to read by reading him the first five books aloud when he was a kid. He got the same tattoo on his shoulder the following summer.
