A careful reader will spot the words "What if" and take their meaning.

Undertoad 07-08-2013 10:13 AM

But if it WAS intentional deceit, you'd be perfectly okay with that, right?

Lamplighter 07-08-2013 10:44 AM

UT: Both of those postings are evasions.

Simple question: Is SamIam a man or woman ?

What if I told you "she" is actually a 35-year-old male stockbroker with a family and kids in Toronto? What if I told you "her" IP addresses were never from Colorado at all? Would that change your opinion of "her"?

Does reality matter? It definitely does.

I typically accept what people say/post at face value. For some reason, it doesn't bother me if they're lying. For all I know - really, truly know - UT and Blue are the only other live Dwellars. The rest of you might all be spambots. And UT and Blue might be NSA. :p:

In debating things, a common method is to postulate an extreme position and see if the same conclusion is drawn. That is what I have done here. The words "what if" followed by "would that change your opinion" tell you it is a postulation asking for a conclusion. Can you see that LL?

If I really wanted to use deceit, and "win" the "debate", I would say "Sam is actually a 35-year-old male stockbroker from Toronto." Can you see that LL?

So now my question remains: if I used the second form and lied, would you find that acceptable?

Two people died (in either Talledega, AL, or Daytona Beach, FL) a few years ago while camping in a tent, in the infield of the racetrack. If you've ever slept in a tent in cool weather you'll know that tents are extremely well-ventilated. When everybody else was gone, someone checked on the lone tent, thinking they'd just partied too much and were sleeping late, they found the two dead from carbon monoxide poisoning.

They had burned wood in a grill to try to warm up the tent.

Just to clarify the irony here for a moment... UT was telling her she would definitely have had carbon monoxide poisoning, and Sam was insisting she didn't.

Thanks, I'll be here all week. Try the wood-fired salmon.

Ah, Summer Season on the Cellar. Always my favorite. Get outside and have some fun, people. And that includes the wintering Aussies.

Well, okay, but you're still not my real mom.

And where the F is MTP? And InfiMonkey?

I'm here! I've just been busy with work and tired a lot. I've been staying away from the computer most evenings. Things are going well though, work is good, I'm dating a super nice guy and Della is wonderful as always. Oh and I got some good news a couple of weeks ago from my doc. They think my original diagnosis of bipolar was wrong and I actually have major depressive disorder instead. So they've changed up my treatment and I'm feeling pretty good. :)

ZenGum 07-09-2013 12:12 AM

Splendid! Thanks for the update. :)

Aliantha 07-09-2013 12:29 AM

I tried having fun. I got sick and had to come home early. :(
