Well done on the Bailey's cheesecake. It looks bloody lovely in the pics.

Watched my dad taste his first avocado about an hour ago. It was hilarious. He did not find it tasty.

Urbane Guerrilla 05-19-2009 01:03 PM

Avocados need salt.

Or the rest of the ingredients in guacamole.

I'll take all of his avocados. And yours. And anyone elses. Seems like here in CO you can't get avocado at a restaurant. Only guacamole, or "avocado spread." And they cost a fortune at the grocery store.

I just had an avocado tostada...slices of avocado on top...at a Mexican restaurant here in my town last night. You should come up here sometime and try it out. :)

Okay. I'll be right there.

Next to guacamole, "avocado spread" is wholly worthless. Trader Joe's offers a good "guac" kit, comprising
  • two Haas avocados
  • one Roma tomato
  • one lime
  • two cloves garlic
  • two green jalapeņo peppers

All fresh, about $3.50. Supply your own salt. Using a mixing bowl as your workplace, halve, pit, scoop out and moosh the avocados. Chop tomato, mince garlic and peppers. Quarter the lime for squeezing over everything. Stir and moosh everything together in the bowl, w/salt and lime to taste but it's likely to need the entire lime, the more so if you add in another 'cado. I like a lot of lime. Lemon juice is okay if you can't get lime, but lime adds a little something.

Aliantha 05-31-2009 06:08 PM

Mmmmm...that pudding sounds extremely close to a tiramisu.

DucksNuts 06-01-2009 05:05 AM

Pub lunch with Mum & Dad.
I was such a good girl - only a few chips, even though they were my favourite type - big & chunky. But more importantly - no booze. Diet Coke for me, although I was craving a cold pint of Stella.

Still, it was lovely of Mum & Dad to treat me (we went walking in the woods today), so I was glad to behave, and feel much better for not even asking for alcohol.

Cheese & onion sandwich, salad garnish and a few chips from the communal bowl.

Aliantha 06-01-2009 05:37 PM

Hmmm...cheese and onion could contribute to ones single status you know mate. ;)

BTW, that postcard arrived for the boys. They're going to get one and send it to you over the weekend. :)
