UT, that is uncalled for.

Undertoad 07-03-2013 08:52 AM

Uh-huh. You are unaware of her long history of compulsive lies, and her additional lie that her previous lies were due to her illness during the time she was marichiko.

If she were proud of her lies she would still be here. I didn't run her off, I didn't ban her, I only exposed her. She is a compulsive liar and harmful to the community.

busterb 07-04-2013 05:49 PM

Well anyway I have a few photos of a metal mule she had sent me in a former incarnation, which she asked for back. As I was interested in scrap iron art. NO scrap here. All gone to China.

Sundae 07-05-2013 06:32 AM

I think I missed something here.
Did it happen off the Cellar? I honestly can't recall any exposure.

No prurient interest, I'd just rather read it myself if it's part of the public domain.

Clodfobble 07-05-2013 07:47 AM

It was here, Sundae.

She has a general pattern of wandering off for several months and then coming back though, and given that she kind of got the last word on the subject in that thread with her apartment photos (I don't even really know if they showed what they were supposed to or not, we don't have separate heat appliances down in Texas so I don't know what a furnace looks like,) I would guess that she doesn't feel exposed, just mad, and will come back sometime soon.

Lamplighter 07-05-2013 09:35 AM

I stand by my words

OK well just FYI, a portable grill with a few spare 2x2s is not a juniper-burning wood stove. It would not only be illegal to use that grill indoors, it would asphyxiate her and her fellow tenants. Her place is outfitted with a gas furnace, and she posted walls of text claiming otherwise in order to "win" her "argument". I gave her the last word because I assumed everyone saw it for what it was: admission.

Here's a thought: if someone is a 'compulsive' liar...then they can't help themselves. If you really think she is a compulsive liar then stop taking that 'dishonesty' to heart and getting shitty with someone who can't help but lie.*

*not saying she is...I have no reason to think she is. But since others have posited this it's worth considering our responses to a mental condition.

BigV 07-05-2013 11:19 AM

so, it's the helplessly compulsivness of the behavior that is the reason that the behavior should be given a pass, not the behavior itself?

If I am a "compulsive truth-teller" (and I'm not saying I am), should that behavior likewise be disregarded like in your example?

When do we give more weight to the behavior than the cause, and when is the cause more important?

/shit stirring

It just seems pointless and cruel to take this tack with someone if you believe they really are compulsive.

[eta] I remember years ago, in amongst my circle of mates was a lad who used to lie a lot. Sometimes wild and fasntastical lies. We used to call him 'Balloon Geoff' because he was always 'ballooning' - wild lies. So...we took what he said with a seriously large pinch of salt. And sometimes we'd take the piss. Looking back we might occasionally have been cruel too. But he didn't stop being our mate because of it. It was just how he was. Just like another guy was uber sensitive and would take offence at practically anything. You just muddle along together as friends, and if someone is a bit of a ballooner, you nod along when they're spinning and let it all go over your head. From time to time we'd call him out on something, but mostly we accepted that that was who he was. And that was that.

I have no idea if he was a compulsive liar...or just a lad with an overactive imagination and profound need to impress.

fine. use logic. be reasonable. you're just no fun.

Good to have you back Dani x

sexobon 07-05-2013 02:33 PM

I always tell the truth ... except when I lie ... go figure.

For all I know, Iamsam may be a compulsive liar and Undertoad may be a compulsive whistleblower. It's a wash.

ZenGum 07-05-2013 06:53 PM

Whistleblower?!?!?! BURN HIM!

Now, there are three doors, and three guards. One guard always lies, one guard always tells the truth, and one guard stabs people who ask tricky questions ...
