Guess what arrived today. Or should I say, what came....

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/01/a4uty4e5.jpg

OK, um... They came late because there was such a sudden spike in orders. Apparently, wolf follows Sulu on Twitter.

Quote:

Greetings,

Thank you for your purchase of the popular OCK/UNT black handled mug. As you may know, this item was recently featured in a tweet sent out by none other than George Takei, the actor that portrayed Sulu in the original Star Trek television show in the 1970s.

Due to the recent acclaim this mug has received, we have had a surge of more than 400 orders in the span of just a few days. To put this in perspective, before this weekend we had a lifetime sales record of just 98 OCKS and UNTS. Though we are working around the clock to ship out as many of these OCK/UNT mugs as we can, we regret to inform you that we may not be able to fulfill our 24 hour ship time guarantee. We are deeply sorry for this and for any inconvenience it may cause you.
I just thought that was funny. 98 OCKS & UNTS. indeed.

That's some clear evidence that advertising is effective. And that social media is about advertising.

Social media, "if you're not paying for it you are not the customer, you are the product that is being sold."

What is it he's holding with the little piece of wood? Some kind of old fashioned tablet? My tablet for reading books is flat and has a bright LCD screen. That tablet looks really odd. ;)

Yeah, it's some kind of ancient storage medium. I understand it was very inefficient, and cumbersome.

Griff 07-06-2014 02:07 PM

As I understand it, that is an energy storage device meant to be heated to 451F.

Sundae 07-06-2014 02:29 PM

I have lots.
They're good for walloping people and sitting skeletons on.

Now Grav, at least I didn't tell you the butler did it...

Now you need to follow up Griff's ref.
Because that's far more cool. Errr, hot.

I like this new phone Panasonic is now offering in Europe. Android 4.4 with a kick ass camera. A large, 1 inch sensor with 20 megapixels and a nice f2.8 lens that can be focused manually.

lumberjim 09-26-2014 10:18 PM

I can make out the word Sperm. Is the 2nd word, extractor? Is that for humans? Very short and lazy humans?
Cuz if that is what they've invented, they are crazier than I thought. Any man can have a wank finished in 3 minutes or less.

Sex is 92% mental. Even if that... Aperture felt exactly like Jennifer Love Hewitt's bedazzled vajayjay, you'd still have to spend 10 minutes imagining it to overcome the image of the nu-nu from telletubbies that thing creates, in order to get set up for business.

classicman 09-27-2014 11:04 AM

No ... just ... no.

glatt 10-08-2014 06:37 PM

I never saw this product before and it's kind of neat.

BigV 10-09-2014 07:03 PM

that *is* neat. I just saw that video last night elsewhere. very interesting. the 360 degree aspect looks great in the parking lot, but I wonder if there're some unintended consequences down the road, so to speak. I wonder how much... "rudder" there is, how much it feels like being "trailed" behind. do you know what I'm getting at? I don't think I'm expressing it very well.

glatt 10-09-2014 07:15 PM

Yeah> I have no idea how it behaves. A beetle is a pretty light car and would probably behave weird pulling a trailer. But it looks like it works.

I have very little experience pulling trailers.

Spexxvet 10-10-2014 07:58 AM

That's pretty cool

Seeing as the hitch is in the center of the car, you'd have to rethink things in terms of turning radius, and you'd have to re-learn backing up (or turn it around and drive forward, like in the vid) compared to a trailer that attaches at the extreme rear of the car.

Also, the trailer is too vehicle-specific, that particular trailer wouldn't work if you drove, say, a '72 Buick Electra 225.

I'm guessing that explains the placement of the hitch.

fargon 10-11-2014 06:01 AM

That tow rig would put weight on the Bug, it will handle better than if it had a bumper hitch. But it would kill the Bug.

FWIW, It's not that far removed from a fifth wheel travel trailer

xoxoxoBruce 10-15-2014 11:27 AM

It is in that the VW can turn completely around giving it an order of magnitude more maneuvering capability. Backing? No, turn it around and push it in the spot. The fifth wheel type mount in the center of the car should make it very stable on the road for it's size. But like anything VW related you have to be conscious and cautious about weight.

Oral-B Pro 5000 SmartSeries with Bluetooth Electric Rechargeable Power Toothbrush

I suppose, in a way, it is fitting that a toothbrush should use Bluetooth if it is going to communicate with the outside world, but the whole thing strikes me as bizarre in the extreme.

Here's what Amazon.com's reviewer Brian has to say:

Quote:

This toothbrush is the perfect compliment to my Bluetooth toilet that tells my smartphone how close to the center I am peeing each day. I now brush my teeth perfectly and hit every tooth the exact same amount of time each day, and I always pee within 98% accuracy of the center of the bowl. My life could not be more complete.
Anyway, if by now you have succumbed to my sales pitch, it's yours for a mere $119.99, down from $133.19.

Order now to avoid disappointment!

My brother got me 'grow a boyfriend' a few years ago. I laughed and laughed. That little sponge never did grow into anything substantial. Quelle surprise! :D

p.s. It was the same thing as grav's post only it was supposed to be a boy. I don't think it had a pen is or anything. It was just funny. Truth be told, I never did put it in water. Maybe that's where I went wrong.

BigV 02-11-2015 11:13 AM

Maybe they're meant to be a matched set; in my experience, it's the boyfriend that grows when the girlfriend gets wet.

(when I pointed out the girlfriend one to SonofV once, all I got was the stink-eye from him. :eyeroll:)

I never knew that existed. But of course it would.

We grew up with the chalk holder thingy that would hold 5 pieces of chalk and make a staff.

Which is still available, which now makes me sad that it's still available. Who is still using chalk?

Clodfobble 02-13-2015 05:53 PM

Last time I saw chalk was 2001, not counting sidewalk chalk for children.
