I used one of them in a single car garage until I loaned to someone and never saw it again.

I just have a small garage but I bought this heater for $40 on letgo. it was like new. It is unvented though. but it will put out some heat and it has a blower on it. a weak one. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...90ed3ccd16.jpg

Is that gas fired?

Hopalong48 01-26-2020 06:52 PM

Yes, I run a gas pipe out of the basement, and used 120V for the blower, it has a pilot light so it will light without electric service.

Harbor freight had a coupon for their workbench. It has a vise and 4 drawers. I'd been planning on building a bench, and the cost of the materials would have been more than their price, so I got two.

I might add a few inches to the height, but as it is, it's a good work space. Almost like an office.

Man cave is coming together.

Just what you need, two more vices.

Those are nice, be a pleasure to use. I have a 4x8 table at normal height, about 33 or 34 inches since I'm short and wanted to be able to lean over to reach things without laying on them. Then the work bench I built is about 10 inches higher so I don't have to lean over to say assemble a carburetor or something.
You're tall so my set up wouldn't work for you, but you can tailor your stuff to what's comfortable. There's no reason you have to suffer for your art.

I'm just gonna go ahead and validate your man card.

Hey what kind of outlet did the electrician put in for you?

xoxoxoBruce 01-27-2020 12:20 PM

Most likely hard wired.

lumberjim 01-27-2020 01:30 PM

right..the heater is wired directly to the box. If I want to, I can add an outlet like you'd have for your dryer. Or hard wire another 240v machine.

Just one day out here and it's a mess already.

I gave the benches an extra 3.5". If you zoom, you might be able to see that I routed the tops of the 4x4s to make them pretty.

I also sunk leveling feet in the front of the forward facing bench because the garage floor starts to grade away there. I put the sjobergs vise in the corner, clamped the benches together underneath and started making sawdust.

The tangle of clamps are on a mailbox I'm making.

Nice! I only ever did half-hearted carving.

lumberjim 01-29-2020 08:14 PM

Amanda seems dubious. It's taken an afternoon to get half way on the 8. Springfield Avenue could take a year.
