But which way is it going - counter-clockwise ? And are the people on the ride going around the lights in the middle, and where is the damned squirrel ? |

i really like that one dmg!!
this morning i rolled out of bed at 5:30 with the intention of making it to work by 7:00. didn't happen. there was a thunder cell to my east moving north and was just oozing with lightning. thanks to flex hours at work i was able to put that off and grab the nikon. y'all are right, night shots are way easier. i still need lots of practice but this isn't too bad for my first attempt. in these shots you see here, the first one was me testing out the ISO at 60. a little too much overexposure imo. i did change it to 125 which i thought would be fine but i was trying a different method and it turned out horrible. the nikon D-3100 has a video mode where you can take snapshots from a single frame and i thought i'd try it out. not one of them came out. way out of focus. must work on that. could be a handy feature. anyway, here are the three shots i snapped at ISO60. |
Slick !!

I like those. It's got a nice sensor to get those stars to come out so well.
The clouds look cool, lit up by lightning like that. |
they're getting their lighting from the city lights. we have a crap load of light pollution here. these pics were taken about an hour before dawn. it does look better than i thought it would.

It has been kind of rainy and foggy here in Geelong, Australia but I have gotten out some to take pictures. This one is from yesterday of the harbor and Cunningham Pier in the misty fog.
The challenge is that I did not bring my usual laptop PC but just my new Asus Infinity pad and I shoot only in Canon RAW files. I have a app for viewing and converting a copy to JPEG but then I use Adobe's PS Touch to edit and save and then use a re-sizing app to post a scaled down image. Keeps one occupied while it rains! |
