Was looking at a pic of Slick...He doesn't look 20 lbs., but then again, black *is* a slimming color.

My vet doesn't think Simcha's a Bombay, because she says Bombays have more smushed faces. Slick doesn't seem to have a smushed face, but I think he and Simcha are *definitely* Bombays. Black coats, yellow/copper eyes, talkative, etc.

Never heard that 'smushed face' bit about Bombays.

Ol' Slick's not quite the cat he was a few years ago. He's a little less than 20, prolly around sixteen-seventeen now. He's about 13 yo now, and missing one upper fang. Approaching 'Old Man Kitty' territory pretty quick now. Sometimes, when I pick him up for a cuddle session, I sing the title line from "Old Man River" replacing 'river' with 'kitty'. I make me laugh.

Bombays: The patent leather kid with the copper penny eyes.

So he's what, about 10 years old?

I have a Bombay mix too. She looks like both of yours.

There are two different Bombay's. They are the British and the American. The British has a more Burmese shaped head or that's what the cat fancier associations says.

I was confused. Is the kitteh twenty, 16-17, or 13?

I have a 17 yo kitteh. Poor old girl...always was tiny and now is really skinny, but still healthy. And she still has the sweetest face I ever saw, even if it is more gaunt. :)

I'm guessing the "less than 20, prolly around sixteen-seventeen now" was kitteh's weight... 13 years is his age...

My last cat made it to 19.5 years... she weighted 4.5 lbs when she died. She was tiny; never heavier that 6.5 during her entire life.

D'oh.

Thanks Pie. :)

Gravdigr 03-25-2010 04:31 PM

God damn. Line up to call me out why doncha?

Shawnee123 03-25-2010 05:37 PM

Well I wondered before but I figured I was missing something simple, then when clod sorta mentioned it I thought I'd ask. Turns out I was missing something simple...hence the blushing. Sorry.

@ Pie: Taj has always been tiny too, but she's a bit bony now. She eats. I feed them both canned and dry food, but the dry food is a bit difficult for her. My Toonces was only 12 when he died; I'm happy to have had this one for 16 and a half years! I hope she stays healthy for a long time.

Salright.

The vid of Simcha chittering to the birds is fantastic. I was trying to describe this to my friend the other day (with little success), and I was able to show her this video. Very cool!

They know how to nap that's for sure, and once they get you down you're pinned.
