Immortal Technique - That's What It Is

Griff 01-27-2009 04:02 PM

Hope for the youts of america. I took a club kid to a tourney last weekend and made him listen to my music. He approached at practice last night and after we talked about why we sucked so bad he asked who was that guy with the awesome deep voice. "Louis Armstrong." Great that he recognized talent not great that he never heard Louis or Ella Fitzgerald before. The rest of the road mix was Arctic Monkeys, Bedoin Soundclash, Miles Davis, Cake, and State Radio.

We all know how hearing quality music at a young age, played by someone who you think is cool, opens up a new world and is something you never forget.

Good stuff, Griff.

Smashing Pumpkins - The Beginning is the End is the Beginning

This is the remix of the track orginally used on the Batman and Robin film, which is the title track for the upcoming Watchmen film. I actually didn't like the original, hell I'm not even a huge Smashing Pumpkins fan, but this is pretty good. Especially when contrasted with the film trailers.

I'm getting nostalgia stricken, digging in the bottom shelf.

Jim Croce.
Greatest Hits.

I had forgotten how simply awesome this cat is. RIP

I dated a guy in college who was a huge JC fan, so yeah...I got that. Good stuff.

I like " Operator".

Damn, I have some fond memories of that era.

I listen to him on vinyl sometimes. What an amazing storyteller.

I am listening to...a Big Finish Doctor Who Audio play :) It's called Zagreus and it's brilliant. It's the second in a trilogy of plays, the first one was called Neverland and was very good. After Zagreus, there's Scherzo, which is supposed to be a very strange little play.
