Anak Krakatau volcanic activity at night, 24.-26.Oct.2018. Eruptions filmed in real time, no timelapse !

Well, If you're talking about Krakatoa, it's -toa.

If you're talking about the volcano in the video above, it's Anak Krakatau - literally translated, it means 'child of Krakatoa'.

Nasty little bitch too. :yesnod:

Gravdigr 12-24-2018 08:07 PM

She makes outstanding videos.

xoxoxoBruce 12-26-2018 12:14 PM

I find these mesmerizing, makes me wonder how long it takes to create one set up, and how many takes to film it? Embiggen for sure.

Gravdigr 12-26-2018 12:29 PM

Film?

:stickpoke

xoxoxoBruce 12-26-2018 12:31 PM

Film goes with takes. :p:

Quicker Picker Upper...

xoxoxoBruce 12-31-2018 01:27 AM

This guy claims to have collected the 100 best photographs ever.
That's pretty subjective but there are many cool ones.

DanaC 12-31-2018 01:31 PM

This was fun. The priest is kind of adorkable.

xoxoxoBruce 01-07-2019 09:36 PM

This is great... "they don't let Rudolf join in any reindeer games"
Yeah yeah, 15 minutes. It's worth it.

Remember Peter Frampton's talk box? It wasn't new tech, here's Lucy demonstrating it in 1939... yes, that Lucy.

Gravdigr 02-10-2019 11:17 AM

That's a long way from Do You Feel Like I Do-ooo.

Jackyl used Frampton's original box on The Lumberjack. And promptly blew it up.

xoxoxoBruce 02-27-2019 03:06 PM

Katelyn Ohashi, either she was built by Boston Dynamics or came from outer space. Humans can't do that butt bounce or splits bounce. :headshake

BigV 02-27-2019 04:39 PM

Undertoad 02-27-2019 04:52 PM

Not only that but good lord look at the frickin height she gets on the double forward flip on the first run

http://cellar.org/img/ohashi.jpg

The world record high jump is 8 feet and she's damn near cleared that if not reached it.

Oh, you mean the Flying Digr Mount™?

Yeah, that's pretty cool.

xoxoxoBruce 02-27-2019 11:10 PM

It's funny, her legs are big but don't look muscular. It's like she has a thin layer of baby fat to hide the Boston Dynamics mechanicals.

glatt 03-01-2019 08:34 AM

The wind noise is annoying, but the video is interesting. Maybe try sound off and closed captioning.

Carruthers 03-03-2019 05:03 AM

I'm going to go straight in and invoke the 'philistine's defence'.
I don't know much about (insert subject here) but I know what I like.
Sadly I'm not at all musical so I thought I'd post this here rather than annoy the aficionados in the music thread several floors up.*

The pianist is Brendan Kavanagh who has made numerous videos of his performances on public pianos, mostly in London rail and tube stations.
Check out his channel.

*Aficionados can breve a sigh of relief.

xoxoxoBruce 03-03-2019 10:09 AM

A working stiff fooling around, or a musician clever enough to wear an outfit bright enough to outshine Elton John?

He's a musician who adopts a variety of guises for these performances, amongst which are security guard, bus driver and postman. However, for most appearances he's just Joe Public.

Brendan Kavanagh YouTube channel.

made soup the other night, recipe called for a little cornstarch to thicken it.

cornstarch and water in the right proportion behaves much the same way. with some regular agitation it becomes more fluid. When left to settle, the first stirring motions reveal a hardened peanut butter consistency, quite solid.

perhaps you've seen the videos where people run across a swimming pool filled with cornstarch and water, but when standing quietly on the surface, they sink.

This is the same liquefaction phenomenon that happens in some earthquakes in some regions that wreaks utter havoc on structures.

That is an awesome clock.

Ridiculously complicated, but awesome.

A little cheating around the edges, but very entertaining.

xoxoxoBruce 03-24-2019 09:59 PM

Yeah, it's not a continuous shoot, but just getting each section to work is amazing to me. Veggies are not reliable performers, more like trying to film a kindergarten play. :haha:

Gravdigr 03-25-2019 12:25 PM

Where does he keep all those tables?

;)

xoxoxoBruce 03-26-2019 01:03 AM

This is pretty clever...

xoxoxoBruce 04-06-2019 12:54 AM

I liked this because I had no idea how they mined big deposits underground...

Diaphone Jim 04-06-2019 11:32 AM

Stope, word of the day.

Gravdigr 04-06-2019 11:40 AM

Informative.

xoxoxoBruce 04-06-2019 12:03 PM

It's one of those, "Hmm, I didn't know that", or "Who cares".

Gravdigr 04-06-2019 12:26 PM

I knew the gist already, but not the whys and the wherefors.

And, like Jim, above, I learned a word.

Mining literally has its own language.

xoxoxoBruce 04-15-2019 12:47 AM

Bet you never saw a match head cannon like this one...

xoxoxoBruce 04-16-2019 05:49 AM

This is mesmerizing...

Here's a strange one...

fargon 04-16-2019 08:46 AM

I've seen the first one before. The second one with the leaf was neat.

Gravdigr 04-16-2019 12:01 PM

Is there something about Reddit I'm missing?

I don't get nothing for the second link (black box), and just a pic of a doodad on a wall in the first.

Clodfobble 04-16-2019 10:02 PM

They're both videos, it sounds like they're not fully loading for you and you're just getting thumbnail still shots.
