The only way to get most of these questions IS to cheat. With the combined knowledge of music on this site, to get ALMOST ALL of the questions right, you've got to have something going on. I have been a music buff all my life (over 50 years) and I am continuously baffled. Good game. I'm just not good enough to play.

:::tired of being invisible:::

BigV 08-03-2006 04:27 PM

me too capn. i read the "no google" in the starter and I haven't gotten any of them... but I enjoy the thread anyway.

JayMcGee 08-03-2006 05:49 PM

This may be a bit too british..... let me know what you think...

How many are in The Temperance Seven and what was their excuse...

Griff 08-03-2006 08:24 PM

hmmm... 7 and it must have been the booze?

Spexxvet 08-04-2006 07:47 AM

6. One was an alcoholic, so they kicked him out.

Shawnee123 08-04-2006 08:31 AM

Yeah then he moved in with me.

I think nobody knows the answer.

JayMcGee 08-05-2006 08:31 AM

You may be right.

There were 9 of them, being one over the 8.....

I'll leve it to the next one in to ask the next question.

Ibby 08-05-2006 09:29 AM

Dare I?

I dare not.

Ibby 08-05-2006 10:09 AM

I say let Shawnee go.

Flint 08-05-2006 05:16 PM

In no way related to this thread, I was just picking a disc out to do a little housework to, and I grabbed David Bowie's The Man Who Sold The World album. Isn't "that song" on this one, I wondered? . . . Yes, here it is . . .

Bonus Tracks - 13. Moonage Daydream 3:52, 14. Hang Onto Yourself 2:51 These tracks were released as a single under the name Arnold Corns in 1971.

capnhowdy 08-05-2006 05:36 PM

Fuck Arnold Corns. He should change his name. :lol2: :bolt:

JayMcGee 08-05-2006 06:36 PM

to david Jones perchance........

Ibby 08-05-2006 07:34 PM

Yes, as it said, under the name Arnold Corns. As in, the name of the band, which is what I asked in the question, was Arnold Corns.

Jesus, people, give it a rest already!

Flint 08-05-2006 08:43 PM

While you may be technically correct, whoever goes to all-caps first "loses."

Ibby 08-05-2006 09:02 PM

There, italicized. Happy now?

Flint 08-05-2006 09:03 PM

The only thing worse than an all-capper is a late editor.

Beestie 08-06-2006 12:50 AM

I remember when this thread used to be fun.

Elspode 08-06-2006 07:51 AM

Jeez, I'm out of a thread for a few days, and now I can't buy a thrill.

Let's have a fucking question...or is there one on the table that I just can't find through all the bullshit?

Flint 08-06-2006 09:18 AM

No, there is no question. JayMcGee forfeited his turn.

glatt 08-06-2006 11:12 AM

Here's an easy question. What are the first names of the four Beatles?

Ibby 08-06-2006 11:24 AM

john, paul, george, ringo.

glatt 08-06-2006 12:26 PM

That's right! Your turn.

Flint 08-06-2006 02:39 PM

Wrong. The "first name" the drummer had was Richard Starkey.

lumberjim 08-06-2006 03:03 PM

here's a new question:

name the two most annoying pricks currently participating in this thread.

Ibby 08-06-2006 03:08 PM

Glatt said I was right.

Piss off, Flint. Seriously, piss off. You are TRYING to kill this thread.
Thank you for trying to save it, glatt.

What sets Mark Knopfler's picking style apart from most other peoples'?

Clodfobble 08-06-2006 03:21 PM

His is on a guitar, while most people's is in their nose?

Ibby 08-06-2006 03:24 PM

Just for the wit, Clodfobble gets it.

jinx 08-06-2006 03:24 PM

He's into Carter style guitar picking?

Clodfobble 08-06-2006 03:32 PM

Aw hell, I don't have a question... okay, at least leave that one open for legitimate answers then...

Cellar-music trivia question: What female pop star did our own smoothmoniker tour with about two years ago? No archive searching.

Flint 08-06-2006 03:50 PM

I always thought Knopfler had a sort of flamenco style, but that's probably not the right terminology.

Ibby 08-06-2006 04:05 PM

Well, pretty close, he plays without a pick, and flamenco style is more of really a sound than a method but flamenco is fingerpicked... close enough.

Elspode 08-06-2006 04:52 PM

The girl who did "Bitch"...I can't remember her name. Doggone one-hit wonders.

Flint 08-06-2006 05:12 PM

I just love the way Knopfler really opens up the space between the notes in a chord. It's percussive.

Elspode 08-06-2006 10:27 PM

Meredith...her name was Meredith...something.

Clodfobble 08-06-2006 10:34 PM

Close enough, Els. :) It was Meredith Brooks.

footfootfoot 08-06-2006 10:52 PM

What is Ibram's opinion of Andres Segovia?

(I know it's not my turn)

Elspode 08-07-2006 08:02 AM

Todd Rundgren has a guitar named "Foamy". Why does he call it that?

Flint 08-07-2006 10:08 AM

:::struggling to concoct bizarre, synesthesia-based theory on this:::

Either that, or his guitar is partially constructed of styrofoam?!

Shawnee123 08-07-2006 10:19 AM

It's named after his childhood dog, who was unfortunately bit by a rabid bat?

Flint 08-07-2006 10:20 AM

Cujo?

barefoot serpent 08-07-2006 10:30 AM

it's seafoam green?

lumberjim 08-07-2006 06:33 PM

cuz of all the beer that's been spilled on it?

anonymous 08-08-2006 10:08 AM

bcouse he told the builder to make it "fo-ME"!

Elspode 08-08-2006 12:27 PM

Barefoot Serpent got it. A Seafoam Green Fender Stratocaster.

barefoot serpent 08-08-2006 03:37 PM

hmmm... OK, keeping up with the Todd Rundgren theme --

Why is Todd Rundgren on Stephen Colbert's 'On Notice' list?

Ibby 08-08-2006 03:55 PM

Colbert has reasons for putting people on the list? News to me...

Flint 08-08-2006 03:55 PM

That's a really good question...I've been very curious about that, actually.

barefoot serpent 08-08-2006 04:05 PM

hint: it has nothing to do with bowtie pasta (it's on the list, too)

Elspode 08-08-2006 04:23 PM

The only thing I can think of is that Colbert is pissed about Rundren having revived The Cars. Maybe he's unhappy that Todd isn't Ric Ocasik?

barefoot serpent 08-08-2006 04:59 PM

Els got it!

Elspode 08-08-2006 11:08 PM

I saw The New Cars on Leno when they were preparing to tour. Original keyboardist and drummer, Todd as the frontman, and they did a damn good job of it. Rundgren is no slouch in virtually any area of music peformance, conception or production. I'd see 'em.

New question: Name the keyboardists who played with Rundgren in his Utopia days.

Flint 08-09-2006 08:07 AM

Herbie Hancock, Jan Hammer, and Chick Corea ???

Elspode 08-09-2006 08:55 AM

Great players all, but wildly wrong.

Flint 08-09-2006 08:56 AM

I can dream.

Elspode 08-09-2006 01:56 PM

*And* hallucinate!
