Or, another way to look at it is: I didn't participate in the bash Mari threads because I felt uninvolved, but now I feel involved for wishing I had posted in those threads...almost in a whimsical sort of way. ;)

the cellar won't die because of this. it will become less enjoyable for awhile as the more mild mannered posters choose to back away for a bit. but they won't go away. if you look at old threads you'll see that there is always someone who is drawing the ire and flames of other posters. Marichiko happens to be the only one i'm aware of that has done it for more than two years straight, was banned, came back and is still a magnet for hostility.

Isn't there a special award for infamous longevity?

On a personal note, I do find the actual nattering back and forth in this thread distracting. But as a wiser poster than me once said, "You can't steer at thread, you can only launch it and watch it drift." I accept that. *sigh*
