Undertoad Friday Dec 2 06:04 PM12/2/2005: Baboon baby gets attention
Happy Friday, sorry I'm late! The full story here says: The baby Hamadryas baboon—whose name is to be determined—is a sweet and active youngster whose wrinkly pink face and lively sense of curiosity remind us of why we count these primates among our closest relatives. The baby was born on October 26 to thirteen-year-old Simen (in photo to left, on right of baby) and nine-year-old Matara (left of baby), an excellent mother who has raised four young at the Prospect Park Zoo. The new apple of their eye now weighs only a few pounds, but when full-grown, he will weigh up to 60 pounds.
The video clip at the link is 30 seconds, for those who have the bandwidth, of the little laddie looking around and being groomed and whatnot, shots much closer than this one.

congratulations, Simen and Matara.
Leah Sunday Dec 4 04:07 PMAs much as I hate baboons in the wilds of Africa (I've been there and seen the way they can act in their packs) they are pretty cute still especially the baby one. Thanks for sending me the clip Bruce
