11/26/2005: Hanging frog

I dunno, maybe I should have saved it for a Friday image, but I don't have any information on it and it's more just a strange shot than anything else. There's a "hang in there baby" sort of quality about it, more than a mind-boggling quality about it. And yet you have to admire the beast's flexibility, and determination in the face of a difficult situation.

richlevy  Saturday Nov 26 10:47 AM

Not to be too anthropomorphic, but it certainly seems to have a big ass grin on it's face. You could put that picture on a T-shirt and write a pretty good caption.

"Top of the world, Ma!"
"I am the KING of the jungle."
"Here I am, baby."
"How's THIS for frogs legs."
"It IS easy being green."
"Once you've had green...."
"Miss Piggy my ass. Come here baby."

The Frog has a camel toe.

Are you sure? I'm not an expert, and I assume everything on a frog is watertight, so I can't tell if it's male or female.

wolf  Saturday Nov 26 11:27 AM

It's not about what it has, it's what it looks like.

Cyclefrance  Saturday Nov 26 11:30 AM

Those eyes look as if they're squinting a bit, and you may be mistaking as a grin what is really tight-lipped concentration and determination, plus, of course, this is very reminiscent of the French squat position. Don't suppose there's a follow-on picture with a small pile accumulated beneath the little fellah....?

Well, CapnHowdy, I saw it, and I couldn't help it. It was like I was possessed or something.

lumberjim  Sunday Nov 27 02:10 AM

frog is probably just hanging out. doesn't really look all that stressed to me.

xoxoxoBruce  Sunday Nov 27 08:02 AM

Cool.....but still not the image that comes to mind for "sticky fingers".

limey  Sunday Nov 27 01:27 PM

My caption would be "I've got a good grasp of the situation!"

bluesdave  Sunday Nov 27 07:19 PM

Any of you guys eaten frog? I've heard it tastes like chicken.

beavis  Sunday Nov 27 10:10 PM

i've had frog legs before. a bit like chicken in that they don't taste like much. i wasn't crazy about them, they looked weird and not enough meat to be worth the trouble.

wolf  Monday Nov 28 12:28 AM

I associate the taste of frog too closely with the taste of formaldehyde to ever try it.

No, I haven't ever tasted formaldehyde, but as we all remember, after the frog dissection class, you just can't get the smell out of your nose and it transfers to EVERYTHING.

beavis  Monday Nov 28 01:50 AM

i'll never forget one of my high school science teachers vomiting after opening a vat of "preserved" animals. just the thought makes me quiver.

capnhowdy  Monday Nov 28 08:46 AM

I've always wondered.... People say frog legs taste like chicken. At 8-9 bucks lb., why not just eat 1.79 lb. chicken?

glatt  Monday Nov 28 08:49 AM

I had frogs legs once. They were on the menu of a fancy restaurant, and I'd never had them before. They were delicious, as I recall. But so are chicken wings. Chicken wings are much cheaper. I'll probably never order frogs legs again.

magilla  Monday Nov 28 09:45 AM

There was a great exhibit of frogs- mainly Poison Dart frogs- at the American Museum of Natural History a while back. This little dudette looks much like one species that stays over the pond when laying eggs. I wonder if that's what this is about...

Some of them can be seen here:

http://www.home.earthlink.net/~the_t...rog-thumbs.htm

Some of them are washed out because I photoshopped & uploaded them before I realized I needed to replace my monitor...it is getting darker and darker
