6/3/2005: Baby elephant in waterfall
lookout123 Friday Jun 3 11:32 AM huh, i shoot water, milk, etc. out of my nose pretty frequentlywhile reading the cellar, but do i ever get to be the IOTD? noooooo-ooooooo. Promenea Friday Jun 3 11:54 AM Not to mention that huge goofy smile on his face..... Elspode Friday Jun 3 12:11 PM Quote:
stellamerteuil Friday Jun 3 12:20 PM Gee golly, that's about the cutest gosh darn thing I've ever seen. perth Friday Jun 3 12:44 PM I could be wrong, but I swear I've seen this before, on the Jungle Cruise at Disney World. I think it's animatronic. glatt Friday Jun 3 01:03 PM Google search for Disney Jungle Cruise lawman Friday Jun 3 01:09 PM I think perth and glatt nailed it. this is a machine. glatt Friday Jun 3 01:14 PM Perth gets all the credit. I just did a Google search. axlrosen Friday Jun 3 01:19 PM Quote:
perth Friday Jun 3 01:19 PM I don't know. My bullshit detector may need recalibration, but the alarms went off as soon as I saw the pic. Something about the toenails bugs me. That and the familiar pose may have set me hunting for proof. I guess the mouth bothers me as well, like the mouth isn't open wide enough or something. glatt Friday Jun 3 01:21 PM The rocks behind are different. The Disney ones are moss covered and look more streamlined. The IOD above is more like stacked boulders. Karenv Friday Jun 3 02:17 PM The Disney animatron isn't shooting water. But they are similar. xoxoxoBruce Saturday Jun 4 03:07 AM Quote:

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who immediately thought it looked fake. But I still enjoyed it for the few minutes when I thought I must be wrong and that it really was a baby elephant. Undertoad Saturday Jun 4 08:59 AM At this point, IotD in general gets faked 2-3 times a year. What's interesting is how everyone eventually debunks them in the thread. There is enough skepticism and collected intelligence in the group to work out what is real and what is not! dar512 Saturday Jun 4 09:05 AM I always thought that was part of the fun of the IotD. xoxoxoBruce Saturday Jun 4 01:43 PM Whether the 'phant is real or not, the picture is real. It's a fun image, the kind that makes your inner child want ice cream......to drop on the sidewalk.(pavement to you people that spell funny) Dypok Saturday Jun 4 02:58 PM Wow. The jungle cruise is one of the oldest attractions at Disneyland, and it still passes for a real elephant? The fact that a ride somewhere has an elephant in the exact same position should give it away. BigV Saturday Jun 4 05:00 PM Quote:
And yet there are points discussed forever without reaching resolution. Where's the truth in those? xoxoxoBruce Saturday Jun 4 06:14 PM Shit V, we don't want to solve all the mysteries of the universe...leave something for the kids to work on. My God Man, think of the children. perth Saturday Jun 4 09:11 PM A reliable source says that this elephant does not appear in the Jungle Cruise ride in Disneyland California. I guess you can't ruile out the other parks across the Atlantic, but it probably isn't the exact one from Florida either. The rocks are too red. lumberjim Sunday Jun 5 05:11 PM this should clear things up Sun_Sparkz Sunday Jun 5 07:33 PM Nice one cellarites.. Defame me!! Bring down my glorious addition to the IOTD!! The pic was sent to me in an email.. So it must be real!! johningerslev Sunday Jun 5 07:34 PM after a little research (googleimages) i think the problem is in the squirting water... its coming out like a hose not like an elephants spray which is developed to keep them cool (usually sprayed on the back) Karenv Sunday Jun 5 11:48 PM After looking at the two pictures side by side I am convinced it is the same elephant animatron. The IOTD image was taken when the site was newer and the ferns and moss hadn't grown up yet- that is why it looks "redder". But if you look at the height on the elephant where the rocks in the IOTD pic have seams, and look carefully under the waterfall on the Jungle ride pic, the lines are at the same height. xoxoxoBruce Monday Jun 6 10:00 PM Quote:
pegusitas Friday Jun 10 12:37 PM OK... a *real* cute baby elephant Since we're all jaded by the fake cute baby elephant, here's a real one. From msnbc.com's "week in pictures" (June 2-9, #7). Queen of the Ryche Friday Jun 10 01:59 PM THanks Peg. Now my inner child can go "Whoopee!" in peace. Karenv Friday Jun 10 02:13 PM Go down to elephant and girl forehead to forehead picture xoxoxoBruce Friday Jun 10 09:45 PM Thanks Karenv, great pictures on that site.
