5/17/2004: Twin cloud formations

This Earth Sci pic of the day selection is of cloud formations stacked atop the Omataco Mountains in Namibia, Africa.

Almost looks "not real", and yet...ah hell, it's still a cool ass pic.

I always wondered what it would like like to see a giant marshmallow smushed against a mountain top.

although these don't have the look i believe they're lenticular clouds. here is a little explanation on them. all i know is that in flight school they tell you to stay the hell away from them. high winds and extreme severe turbulance.

it's wonderful. not only because of the clouds, but the scenery in itself is worth seeing...

Here is one that I shot while in Patagonia near the Torres del Payne National Park, must be something to do with clouds over high altitude mountains, but I'm no meteorologist!

Is that one of Mt Fuji trick photography? Looks absolutely perfect to be real. Unreal photo.
