10/3: Eagles cheerleaders

Reported last night: a group of former Eagles cheerleaders are suing because they say that visiting teams and a loosely described group of other people were able to see into their locker room while they were changing.

That gives me a chance to use the first image that I actually shot myself. For a while I was involved in producing the Eagles website, and for the 1999 season I was one of those people on the sidelines, photographing the games. I took this pic in December and these are their cold-weather outfits. The actual temperature out there is near freezing.

I'm not against the lawsuit. But come on. By just participating in this, you agree that you are a nameless sexual object on display for 50,000 drunken football fans (and countless milions on TV). By wearing an outfit that, in DECEMBER, shows very clearly whether or not you've had breast enhancement surgery - you don't really have all that much dignity to lose in the first place, much less concern for people not seeing your body.

I'm not against the lawsuit. But come on.

(Note. If you have high bandwidth or patience, and a large monitor, you might enjoy seeing the raw version of the image, exactly as it came out of the digital camera. It's 646k in size and 1600x1200 pixels. But these large-version images are quite striking on large monitors. And if you have any doubt that #2 up there has had surgery, the large version of the image makes it quite clear... that's just unnatural...)

CharlieG  Wednesday Oct 3 02:07 PM

What camera?

What camera are/were you using to take these shots. The quality on the raw image was very good

dave  Wednesday Oct 3 02:11 PM

looks suspiciously like a coolpix 950...

my kodak dc290 takes pictures of comparable quality. gonna get myself a canon pro90 though... those things are *awesome*...

Undertoad  Wednesday Oct 3 02:41 PM

Good call D, it was in fact a Nikon Coolpix 950! I paid the premium to have the best camera of its time. Unfortunately "its time" in digital camera time is like 6 months, but I still love the striking images that it delivers.

That shot was the highest-quality image mode for JPG. The only better image would be TIFF, but when I was shooting the Eagles I would take about 150 shots, and in 1999 CF memory was pretty expensive. A 48 meg card was over $100. Now a 128 meg card is under $50.

I wish I had cool imaging work to do to justify buying the next generation camera. But most of my imaging work these days is selecting stuff for IotD.

ndetroit  Wednesday Oct 3 02:50 PM

Hmmmm.... I dunno, tony... I think there's a pretty big difference..

That whole "nudity" thing is a big deal in our culture. Look at the stigma's associated with it. I've been on stage a lot, wearing all kinds of stupid shit, but I seriously doubt I'd get up the courage to go naked, no matter what the "artistic reasons".

Nakid vs form-fitting body suits are two very different things.

And I think that the point is not whether or not they consider themselves to be sex objects (they're dancers! hooray!), it's that against their will, they were comprised without their knowledge.

Cheerleaders are sweet and innocent and wear pleated skirts and jump up and down and cheer.

Internet sluts take off all their clothes in sweaty steamy rooms with 20 other girls, while a bunch of guys that they don't know are there watch.

what's the difference? in this case, probably only the hole in the wall...

ndetroit  Wednesday Oct 3 02:52 PM

oh yeah, and.....

real, fake, real, real, fake?

or is that naive of me to count so many reals? the fourth could be a fake, I guess.

bcbrewery  Wednesday Oct 3 03:10 PM

Yea, I would have to say that those teeth are capped.

dave  Wednesday Oct 3 03:29 PM

the last ones look real to me. the only ones that look obviously fake are the second ones. but that's just my opinion, i could be wrong...

tony - UT server. tomorrow or friday. let's play

chrisinhouston  Wednesday Oct 3 03:36 PM

I think the 2 redheads and the blonde must be shopping at the same lingerie store, or perhaps they don't shop at all, considering their underwear lines don't exist.

Some hair too! They look like Texas girls.

Galadriel  Wednesday Oct 3 04:01 PM

Who picked our those outfits???!!! My God, no one looks good in that. They look like some kind of deranged Green Lantern fan club.

real, fake, real, real, real. If not, they should get their money back. And to any fellow women out there, wouldn't bigger boobs be the last thing you would want if you make a living jumping up and down?

Pie  Wednesday Oct 3 04:25 PM

Yeah, big ones would get you a couple of black eyes... lol.
But I understand that the fakes don't move nearly as much as real ones do, so while she might avoid the out-of-phase oscillations, she'd probably look even more unlike her fellow performers.

Undertoad  Wednesday Oct 3 04:30 PM

Welp, I'm not AGAINST the lawsuit, I do want to make that clear. I'm only against hypocrisy, which is still not against the law. I'm sure that Mr Lurie [Eagles' owner] will put things right as he is a feminist.

I would say that #2 is the only fake (bc, excellent first post). And ridiculous too. An old gf of mine had a natural chest like that, but she weighed about 180. (Bring on your pathetic comments; I'm a feminist too, a dham-style feminist who believes that modern sexuality is empowering to women. Or have I said too much???)

And my guess is that the cheerleaders with underwear lines are really just looking for some extra support. And given the choice between support hose lines and painful, expensive surgery, I personally would go for option #1.

On the UT server front, I am far too lazy still. Give me another week!

dave  Wednesday Oct 3 05:18 PM

OT: UT Sever

well let's talk on icq or aim or irc or something and find a server we both ping acceptably to and play.

you're upgraded to v436, right?

and, uh, to keep it on topic... i like boobs. or something. hehe.

Joe  Wednesday Oct 3 05:35 PM

second from the left

How is it she can even stand upright?

Good lord.

You remember back in the "Voyager" TV series they had this babe called SevenOfNine? She sported a similar physique, and we just called her Two.

jaguar  Wednesday Oct 3 10:21 PM

Anyone see the irony in this?
CHEERLEADERS. Complaining because they were perved on. OK, dress up in this case, body hugging suit or normally, micro skirt and midriff top what the hell do you expect, bloody hell.

Looks like reasonably thinkish material so it would be unlikely to show lines anyway, has to be pretty thin. On a side note pants made of similar stuff are incredibly popular here at the moment, and have been kindly christened LAMS Look At My Ass.

#2 is hilarious, how obvious is that *lol*. And yea I’m surprised she can stand up too.

At the risk of sounding terribly heterosexually male... 7of9 wasn't near as big as 2. Not that that dimished her sexyness, infact 2 is just too damn big, mmm, 7 of 9 in a starfleet catsuit.

elSicomoro  Wednesday Oct 3 10:56 PM

Lawsuit: Neither the Eagles, nor any Eagles players are named in it. Although, the holes in the wall were from the visitor's locker room.

Yes, the women are hot, and the clothes make them sex objects. Regardless, they are entitled to privacy. I'm surprised these cheerleaders have NOT sued the city of Philadelphia, given that the city owns the Vet.

Fake boobie story: I was at a Ministry show in St. Louis 2 years ago. A girl about my age (early-to-mid 20s) was at the show standing next to me. For the first part of the night, she was talking to her friends about how she had just gotten implants, and was letting them (male and female) feel her breasts to see how "hard" they felt at the time. Unfortunately, I was not asked.

ndetroit  Thursday Oct 4 12:04 AM

The one in the middle is thinking to herself "There's that damn pervert Tony, again. God, what is it with his obsession with taking pictures?.... thank god he hasn't found that hole in the wall to the visitors locker room that I drilled...."

you know. I suppose that kind of brings up a good point. I'm sure there are tons of women out there who would like to see professional athletes naked... hmmm.

Pie  Thursday Oct 4 08:58 AM

Not professional football players! (Ugh -- fat city!)
Professional tennis, maybe.

Undertoad  Thursday Oct 4 01:46 PM

Well, I went back to my collection of the images I shot that day, and I *think* - I'm 99% sure - that this is the cheerleader who brought the lawsuit.

I could have just captured her in a glum mood, but -- this was the last home game in 1999, which was the last year she was on the squad.

On the outfits, it strikes me that they are designed to be seen from a long distance away, and not with the unflattering closeups we have here. To get sexy closeups of the cheerleaders, you're supposed to buy their calendar.

It also strikes me that, in staging productions, sometimes it's important for things to be larger than they actually are, so that the audience can see them and recognize them. That's what David Byrne mocked with his "big suit" in the Talking Heads' tour captured in "Stop Making Sense". And that, in turn, puts a weird spin on football cheerleaders having immense fake breasts. Hey, it's all for the SHOW.

And of course, the show must go on. Thank God.

I have a love/hate feeling for fake 'uns. In the right clothing (such as #2 in the tight outfit, for example, though her face almost screams "no brains! no brains!") they can look incredible. And though I've never been with a woman with fakies, I'd say that au natural would be preferable even if they were only an A or B cup.

"Size isn't everything." It's been said for guys; I think it applies to women.

It looks like her, except she has black hair now. She was on NBC 10 Tuesday night.

lisa  Friday Oct 5 08:51 AM

Oh, come on! There IS a difference between being gawked at when you are planning on it and when you feel like you should be secure and have some privacy.

Many women who like being stared at would NOT like it if they suddenly found out that someone had installed a hidden camera in their bathroom and were watching them in the bathtub every night.

I suppose this is one of those things that if you understand it, I don't need to explain and, if you don't, explinations will do no good.

Regardless, they ARE entitled to a reasonable expectation of privacy in certain places and I'd say that their locker room is one of them.

If they truly had no foreknowledge and all else is as they say, I'd vote in favor of the plantiff.

kaleidoscopic ziggurat  Friday Oct 5 11:47 AM

seems like implants are a popular topic... how about an image of the day detailing the surgical procedure or some interesting aspect about it...

i only know one person with implants.. she's happy with 'em.. she says her boobs are more "fun" that way.. every year she has a little holiday - its "boob day" and i think it falls on february 4th or something... har har...

jaguar  Friday Oct 5 09:23 PM

Oh boy. This thread is a very good example of the male-dominated demographic of cellar me thinks

Wouldn't it be more POST-Feminism than feminism? I've learnt the difference after many a fiery blasting from various female friends

Right to privacy...Anyone who puts themselves on a public pedestal, politicians, celebs etc has to expect some loss of privacy but ill admit holes in the change room wall is a *bit* far.

elSicomoro  Friday Oct 5 09:33 PM

You know, they actually have a show on it...

Interestingly, MTV did one of their True Life (or is it Real Life? Hell, I don't remember.) stories on 4 women--2 getting breast implants, one getting a breast reduction, and one that had a life-threatening experience with her implants. It was very graphic...and overall, a very good show.

sapienza  Saturday Oct 6 02:22 AM

Kaleidoscope Ziggurat brought it up -- not me! -- so here are some images regarding breast enhancement surgery. Befores and afters.

sapienza  Saturday Oct 6 02:30 AM

Whoops, sorry, posting that link didn't work. Anyways, go here:
http://www.idealme.com/gallery/

And then choose the sort of plastic surgery for which you wish to see before and after photos.

juju2112  Saturday Oct 6 10:53 AM

It works you just didn't include the entire url in between the tags.

juju2112  Saturday Oct 6 10:53 AM

dammit. mine didn't work, either. oh well.

The differences in those shots is amazing! Especially case #813 - she didn't even have any boob at all.
<br>
OK, i've now decided that breast enlargement surgery is patriotic. :]

sapienza  Saturday Oct 6 01:05 PM

... and poor case 1004 only had a pokey nipple when it started, and she ended up with a good-looking pair of breasts when all was said and done.

jaguar  Sunday Oct 7 12:56 AM

*feeling aloof* I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

elSicomoro  Sunday Oct 7 12:34 PM

I wonder if anyone has went to that site and realized, "Hey! I KNOW that gal!"?

MaggieL  Sunday Oct 7 01:09 PM

Please.

You guys don't know the difference between a general admission ticket and a backstage pass? And a backstage pass still won't get you in the dressing room. The cheerleaders don't surrender *all* privacy just because they're in show biz, no matter what kind of show business it is.

One might as well argue that if I'm a subscriber to an online service that I'm entitled to hack their system. After all, they agreed to give me access, right?
