1/15/2004: Monkeys attack embassy

Oh but it can't be! Oh but it is: in a man-bites-dog twist, a vicious band of monkeys has attacked and invaded the Indian embassy in Nepal.

They are described as "attacking staff, destroying stationery and damaging office equipment." The problem is made more difficult by a complex set of Hindu beliefs which make it roughly bad luck to harm the monkeys.

those aren't monkeys, they're baboons! big nasty dog monkeys, with red asses and pointy canine teeth. don;t they have any non hindu game wardens that coould cull the population?

yet another example of some quirky religious belief fouling up the natural balance of man and beast. any hindus on here? can;t kill cows, can't kill monkeys, what do they do for fun?!

Found this at the BBC Images of the Week site and made me think these monkey's need to wonder "Why can't we just all get along?"
