6/16/2003: "Good dog" sign in Vancouver

This is the sort of thing that we should encourage, and so I'm including it here although IotD is only occasionally found in the category of "light humor". It's a good one to follow yesterday's image...

And now I wanna know whether the actual Bylaw told the city to put up exactly these signs. Didja ever go to a local government meeting? Usually a bunch of tight-assed do-gooders looking for an outlet, to take their their compulsions out on society.

Might be an urban myth, but - Fellow is taking a Civics class, last assignement is to write a one page essay on good governmet. Fellow sits and scratches his head, and then writes.

2 minutes later he walks up and presents his paper and leaves for the semester. Four words were written: "Good government. Sit. Stay." He got his A.

My favorite sign was in Kirkland along Juanita park. It was a sign admonishing people to not feed the geese. It said, "If you feed me, you might as well shoot me" and showed a little cartoony bullet-riddled goose. I was thinking, "ALL RIGHT! Get my SKS!!!"

Dogs are cool.

Small world

I was there last month. That's the ferry terminal at Horseshoe Bay, N. Vancouver, BC. Here's a shot of the bay a little further inland, on the way to Squamish:

<img src="http://www.newzucanuze.com/images/Horseshoe%20Bay.jpg">

This is probably the most beautiful place I've ever been, and I've been around.

Too cool.

Wow, man thats spectacular!

ndetroit  Wednesday Jun 18 12:43 PM

wow.. I live in vancouver, and I've never seen any signs like that... hahaha.. that's really cool though..

Of course, it *is* a sign for "North Vancouver" which is an entirely different city than "Vancouver".... You see .... North Vancouver is so much more .. .... .... north ..... than regular vancouver....

anyways.. cool stuff.. kind of neat to surf this forum of pics from all over the world for a long time and then see something so close to home.

Torrere  Wednesday Jun 18 10:07 PM

Hm. I never would have thought of taking a picture like that, NBN. That's just what this whole region looks like.

It is very pretty though. =]
