A 40 second exposure with a Canon 5D Mark III and Zeiss 21mm f/2.8 lens, by Brett Abernethy, of a meteor over Mt Rundle in Banff, Alberta, Canada. It was only half luck, he specializes in night photography and was there on assignment for National Geographic. He had his camera
on a tripod getting set up for a shot when this happened and didn't realize he had the shutter open until 40 seconds later.

Snakeadelic Wednesday Mar 8 07:48 AMThe spectacular conjunction of training, talent, dedication, timing, location, and wetting yourself in a good way when you realized you accidentally left the camera on!
Banff is a stunning place if you like the Arctic & boreal/taiga landscapes. I'd love to visit someday, but iirc the whole island is a national park so they might have a teensy problem with my rock-collecting addiction...
