August 27, 2016: Don't mess with Mother Nature, part 2

We bring the focus here to my hometown of Kansas City today. Last night, a heavy batch of rain fell in the metro area, causing severe flash flooding and power outages.

We happened to be down at the Country Club Plaza last night, and left just as the rain started coming down. We live 15 minutes from the Plaza...it took over 30 to get home. We bobbed and weaved around multiple new lakes and rivers as we made our way back to our house. A short time after we passed one particular intersection, it had become completely submerged. The town is drying out and people are cleaning up today.

I've lived in a lot of places and seen a lot of things. But I've never seen such intense weather as I have in my 6 years here in Kansas City. Last night's storms were probably the worst weather I've seen in my 41 years.

This is a screen capture from video taken by The Kansas City Star over in the Westport neighborhood, not too far from where we were.

I've negotiated flash flooding like that in Denver!

I think I'll pass on buying any cars out of Kansas City.

Um... how's your stream look.
