May 8th, 2016: Gereja Ayam

Gereja Ayam, the Chicken Church, in Magelang, Central Java, was supposed to be a Dove cooing the gospel.
But the locals said nope, that’s a squawking chicken dude.
The fact that everyone agrees it’s a chicken doesn’t bode well for Daniel Alamsjah, because he built it under divine orders.
I don’t know if it was a phone call, or telegram, or registered letter, or what, but it came straight from God.
I could be wrong, but I was always thought under divine orders failure was not a survivable option.

Though the prime purpose is a prayer house, ancillary uses were a rehabilitation center, treating disabled children,
drug addicts, and others. Although it closed fifteen years ago when the dude ran out of money, so now it rots, it’s still
sought by tourists, used for a graffiti canvas, and by locals to pray.
Couples looking for privacy use the chicken to perform filthy, disgusting, perverted things I’d like to… um… er… document.

This Chicken Church is appalled.

It's there, and visible on Google Maps.
