May 13, 2015: Sid the Beagle, Maddie the Coonhound

It's a two-for-one day at IotD as, somehow, dogs on the Internet are getting their due today. Or really dog owners, because it's a team effort when an owner has the talent, vision, and apparently time and money to take their dogs all over the place and take pictures.

First, photographer Alex Hopes and his Sid the Beagle. Sid is the subject of a whole series by Mr. Hopes called "Sidventures" in which they travelled all over the US. But now this series of Sid with food has appeared, and he has his own Instagram.

He's worth it because he has apparently developed this skill -- let us say it is a skill, because Sid is a dog -- of posing with food in his mouth but not eating it.

(Spoiler alert: hunting dogs are bred to do this. They retrieve shot birds and gently carry them back to the hunter, in their mouth, without putting a single tooth mark into the body.)

Next, xoB sends along this collection of Maddie the Coonhound, who is being hauled all over the US and photographed with owner Theron Humphrey. I hope xoB doesn't mind -- but when BOTH of these dogs found their way to me within 20 minutes' time, I figured it was fate and I had to IotD both of them at the same time. Sorry Bruce if you were thinking of putting this one up.

She's worth it because she's a beaut and her owner really knows how to photograph her. And to show their partnership.

Maddie has her own Instagram

No problem, have at it.
Methinks the dog is smarter than the girlfriend.

You understand we expected a very short dog humping a very tall dog.
