August 9, 2013: Burglar's note

Are you ready for your faith in humanity to be restored?

The office had a standard setup, and they had the best locks and a good alarm system in order to keep it secure, as you have to do in the city. But burglars managed to get between floorboards, cut alarm wires, and steal all the computers.

Of the Sexual Assault Services Center of San Bernadino.

Police combed the area into the late hours of the night, and one cop explained to the street people and transients in the area what the office was, and what kind of good they did for people.

And then something amazing happened.

Quote:
After managing to get back home and asleep after a terrible night, Stallings received another call from the police around 4:30 a.m. The burglar had returned.

Sprawled across the ground in front of the Sexual Assault Services Center of San Bernadino was every computer that had been ripped out of the building hours earlier, with a note.

The note read, “We had no idea what we were takeing (sic). Here your stuff back. We hope you guys can continue to make a difference in peoples lives. God Bless.”

Stallings suspected that the conversation between the transients and the police officer earlier had been the turning point. Transients keep a close knit community in the area around the center, Stallings said, and they must have spread the word on what the stolen items were being used for.
