June 6, 2013 - Bald Eagles Battle in Air

\

I have always found the Bald Eagle to be one of the most regal of all creatures.

Last month, two bald eagles were battling it out in the air and their talons became so entangled that they could not disengage. Unable to get away from each other they fell to the earth, crash landing on an airport strip at the Duluth International Airport.

A wildlife professional came to collect the eagles, which were remarkably calm as they were picked up and moved. He didn’t have a container large enough to hold the two eagles, so he put them in the back of his truck, covering them and tying them down.

As he was driving toward the wildlife center, he heard the eagles having another tussle in the back of the truck and when he turned to see what was going on, one of the eagles jumped on his tailgate and flew off. The remaining eagle was examined and treated and both eagles were expected to live.

For more details, see the article on GrindTV.

Wow.

I counted the talons in pic two, couldn't figure out why there were so many.

I wonder if their talons have a similar locking structure like bulldogs jaws.

You'd want to be a bit careful putting your hand in to try to work those two free!

I think the eagle holder in the first pic is a bit of a lucky dumbass. I see his naked meaty hands in easy range of the OTHER sharp end of the unhappy eagle.

This unfortunate situation might be resolved if some kind hearted Vet would prescribe Rogaine for them.

This is no time for illeagle drugs!

Got to love the third picture. The one on the left is like "hey, can you do us a favor" and the one on the right just looks pissed and embarrassed.

That is my old home town. Knowing Duluth, they were drunk.

hurrmmm apparently they may not have been fighting, but mating...

a distinction without a difference for some couplings.
