June 2, 2013 - A Bouquet for You

The original image I downloaded - source unknown.

The rotated image - to maintain the equilibrium in my perception.

One day, while waiting in line to get a Costco membership, a woman and small child approached the counter. The woman had a bouquet of dried roses in her hand. Very curious. This is not something we see everyday.

The woman was a Spanish-speaker and the cashier was not so she asked our Spanish-speaking cashier to interpret. Dear hubby is fluent in Espaņol, so I asked what was going on.

The woman, unhappy with the roses she bought a month ago because they were dead, asked for a refund. The manager took her bouquet and gave her a cash refund.

She might have thought they were fake (sometimes the fake ones are tough to tell from the real ones, at a glance).

And the first image looks like someone handing flowers through the event horizon / puddle of a Stargate.

Good customer service there, by Costco.

They've only recently changed their accept-all-returns-regardless policies to put some limits and conditions on them, like returning an old tv because ... whatever give me my new tv, etc. The cost of granting the return of the roses was less than the rounding error from the register count at the snack bar, compared to the cost of the negative publicity, even small scale publicity for refusing it.

I do not accept flowers from random arms appearing through either curtains or pools of dark matter.
A girl has to have some boundaries after all.

Diamonds however...

How about swords?

Cherry ap Arthur I am not.
Well, I might be able to sell it on eBay I spose...
