October 13, 2012: Giant eyeball found on beach

As reported in many places including here, this strange piece of flotsam was found on Pompano Beach, Florida.

Attachment 41165

Attachment 41166

It was handed to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, who don't know what it is. I'm pretty sure it is not a dolphin.

It's a candy dish made in an Occupational Therapy class.
Rather nice one too.

SPUCK  Saturday Oct 13 07:25 AM

My money is on a giant squid.

DanaC  Saturday Oct 13 07:35 AM

Probably safer than in the banks, these days...

Depends on the jockey.

I've got my eye on you!

One day, a couple of years ago, we went fishing on the wharf with my uncle and cousin. A generous fisherman left the remains of his orange roughie that he had been using for bait.

What is bait to one is an experience in grossness to two boys. One of them started playing with the eye, pushing it all around, feeling the gelatinous nature of the thing.

Before long, they had pretty much detached the eye. It was just hanging by a thread. They continued pushing on it and squeezing it until all the different "parts" were taken out of the eye sac.

Weird and cool all at the same time.

(I know I have pics, I just can't find them right now.)

Swordfish eye.

Eye think Bruce is right, although at first Eye thought it might be a tuna. Eye'm just not certain!

*CANDYGRAM!*

SPUCK  Tuesday Oct 16 07:14 AM

Bruce was right!

Someone please bring up that case of cupie dolls, STAT!

What's it gonna take, an eye?

D- You'll put your eye out.

It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye.
