Undertoad Saturday Feb 1 12:23 PM2/1/2003: Record smallest waist
What you're seeing there is the Guinness book record holder for smallest waist, packed into a vintage corset. The final number: 15 inches. The owner is Cathie Jung of Mystic, Connecticut.
The dieting bar has just been raised. The new fashion will be looking normal from your head down to the last rib, looking incredibly abnormal from that rib down to your hips, and then normal from the hips down.
Good luck.
Pie Saturday Feb 1 12:37 PMThat's just sick.
She probably can't survive without an exo-skeleton anymore -- too much internal re-organization had to happen here...

wolf Saturday Feb 1 03:05 PMThat looks throroughly freakish ... worse than seeing someone with a grossly oversized head.
One of the major problems with corsetry was the damage to the wearer's internal organs ... I watched 1900 House on PBS and that was one of the issues they addressed ... even over the short period of time wearing corsets, the women were starting to have problems with diminished lung capacity, etc.
jeni Saturday Feb 1 03:20 PMthat is absolutely disgusting. i have no idea why anyone would want to look like that. i have no idea.

That would explain why swooning was such a common event back than. I always wondered why women were so prone to fainting back then.
I don't think the picture is as disturbing as some other pictures I've seen on here though.

Well yeah but there are limits... I personally don't find this particularly attractive. You can have to much of a good thing. (Or I guess in this case I should say too little.)
Thadius Tuesday Feb 4 05:15 AMThe best figure for men has to be .. with a $ in front.
juju Tuesday Feb 4 10:04 AMRe: Smaller waist.
Whoah! I've got to post this picture from that site:
Hubris Boy Tuesday Feb 4 12:59 PMWell... that's cool and all... corsets seem to be quite effective at reducing waist size, but are apparently of no use whatsoever for eliminating unsightly backfat.
adny Tuesday Feb 4 03:14 PMer, I was being sarcastic about the hourglass figure thing. I don't know any men that would go for something that extreme.
I remember someone once said that Spook looks like "mr. hankie, the christmas poop" here. I agree.
BigV Friday Jun 3 03:08 PMI've seen some of this in person. It's ... very weird. The phrase I've seen used is "tightlacing".
richlevy Friday Jun 3 09:12 PMFor some reason this reminds me of Terminator.

I think the only reason this waist won was that the House of Gord hasn't put up a candidate ;p
SPUCK Saturday Jun 4 06:25 AMThese people are sick.
Same as someone who can stop disfiguring themselves.
Aliantha Saturday Jun 4 06:38 AMI think it's a bit weird, and definitely a health risk, but I don't think it's sick. People do all sorts of more permanent things to their bodies, such as tattooing or piercing.
