April 2, 2012 A Palm Sun Day

I am reviving an old IOTD. I picked this up from a blog written in 2009 and thought it beautiful enough to run it again.

It is incredible what a dream and endless amounts of money can do.

It was a dream come true for Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who first revealed his dream of a manmade island in the 1990s.

The property developer Nakheel Partners, threw in about $30bn worth of projects that turned that dream into a reality.

One of the wonderful side benefits of the project is that it created all kinds of reef for the fishies and there are quite a number of fish that weren't there originally.

Hmmmm. I'm not convinced.
Just because you can do something, and have a shed heaving with money, doesn't mean you should.

I think Dr Ian Malcolm said that once. Before the Pirates of the Caribbean ate him. Or something.

Except you mean April 2. 'Cause I already got 1 (with original photos) and today is #2. Even if it messes up the pun.

Appreciate all you're doing and everything, but IOTD is still open to all right? It's kind of disheartening to have your occasional post ignored/stomped over like this. Especially when it's not even a new image. Unless there's a truly good reason for a second post on the same day, it's first come..... right?
