SPUCK Sunday Jan 1 06:55 AMJanuary 1, 2012 Sunken Bridge
Happy new years!
The bridge? It sunk.
Apparently this a mote around an earthen fortress called Fort de Roovere in the Netherlands. The water is too deep to walk thru and too shallow for a keel boat, making it hard for attackers to make it across before they'd be riddled with arrows and other unpleasant things.
To get access to the fort this bridge was recently built by Accsys Technologies out of Accoya wood.
Sundae Sunday Jan 1 07:04 AMThat is super-cool. Bless the Dutch.
I assume, being a moat, the level is reasonably constant. Not much room for error though...?
DanaC Sunday Jan 1 07:16 AMhar! I love it. It looks wrong on so many levels lol

I'm sure there is a spillway somewhere that keeps the water level constant in case of rain.
glatt Tuesday Jan 3 10:08 AMApparently there is a sump pump that keeps it dry when it's working.

Definitely looks like the spillway - wasn'ting.
I marvel at the whole concept when it's dry. The buoyancy forces are crazy high! Think of the tons and tons of water displaced.
infinite monkey Wednesday Jan 4 08:45 AMThe Bridge on the River. Why?
BigV Wednesday Jan 4 01:43 PM+1 clever!

I had just about enough of this shit. My mother's employer just renamed themselves to a self-fellating made-up techie-sounding name like this. Can we please, please go back to the trend of naming businesses after their founders?
Thank you for calling TriInoGenAccTechOmniSysDynArcNetSynVinEx Systems, how can I help you today?
HungLikeJesus Friday Jan 6 10:35 AMYes, like Colonel Sanders and General Motors.
