I think I'll have a Grilled Cheese Martini at The Cellar.
The Cellar in New York City, that is.
Concocted by Kurt Beecher Dammeier of Beecher’s Handmade Cheese store.
The base of the drink is grilled cheese infused vodka.
Quote:
Dammeier and his crew soaked six piping hot sandwiches in 10 gallons of vodka, leaving the blend to marinate for 24 hours. Much of the spirit was absorbed by the bread, so bartenders had to vigorously press the sandwiches through cheesecloth to extract the infused liquid before freezing and skimming it.
|
To make the drink, rim a martini glass with a mixture of balsamic syrup and crispy bits of Surryano prosciutto. Mix tomatoes, basil, tomato juice and the vodka in a cocktail mixer. Shake, stir and strain over a giant tomato juice ice cube.

Aliantha Tuesday Sep 13 09:48 PMDefinitely a no no in my books.
I somewhat abhor the whole bastardisation of the martini with normal ingredients like apple or lychee, but a grilled cheese sandwich?
Bugger that sideways I say!
